SEC Has its Schedule Set for Another Great Season

Oct 15, 2014, 4:33 PM

Saw that the SEC released it's full 2015 schedule last night. As long as they can continue to count on their friends at ESPN to talk them up into having 3-5 teams in the top 10 and 5-7 teams in the top 25 to begin the season, there is really no way for them to avoid staying on top. Here is every power 5 team they play OOC:

2015 SEC-versus-Power Five: Alabama (Sept. 5 vs. Wisconsin in Dallas), Arkansas (Sept. 19 vs. Texas Tech), Auburn (Sept. 5 vs. Louisville in Atlanta), Florida (Nov. 28 vs. Florida State), Georgia (Nov. 28 at Georgia Tech), Kentucky (Nov. 28 vs. Louisville), LSU (Sept. 26 at Syracuse), Ole Miss (None), Mississippi State (None), Missouri (None), South Carolina (Thursday, Sept. 3 vs. North Carolina in Charlotte, Nov. 28 vs. Clemson), Tennessee (Sept. 12 vs. Oklahoma), Texas A&M (Sept. 5 vs. Arizona State in Houston), Vanderbilt (None)

So for the entire conference, that's a total of 1 OOC team they play that is currently ranked in the top 10 and 4 that are ranked in the top 25 (FSU, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Clemson). Somehow out of their 11 power 5 OOC games, they are playing only 2 on the road (Georgia at GT and LSU at Syracuse). Every other game is at home or on a "neutral" field.

So who has the toughest OOC schedule. From ESPN:

"We'll give Steve Spurrier's Gamecocks the early nod as the SEC team with the toughest nonconference schedule. In addition to the neutral-site game with UNC and home game against Clemson, South Carolina will host Central Florida and The Citadel." http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/91007/sec-releases-2015-football-schedule

I guess ESPN is predicting us to be top 5 next year since there is no one else on that "tough" schedule anywhere close to the top 25.

You would think the SEC would get called out on this, but far from it. The first couple paragraphs of the ESPN article above tries to spin next years OOC slate as better than this years. The headline on the sports page for AJC right now is "SEC Schedules Don't Get Any Easier in 2015." http://collegefootball.blog.ajc.com/2014/10/14/sec-schedules-dont-get-any-easier-in-2015/.

Yeah, but check out the coot's schedule. To close the year: at Texas A&M, at Tennessee, Florida & Clemson. No cupcakes or bye weeks before they play our Tigers. I guess the SEC realizes that Slurrrier is about to hang 'em up and isn't doing the yardbirds any more favors.

Tennessee and Florida are terrible. This isn't 1998 or 2006

Tennessee & Florida are both capable of beating the coots THIS year. 2015 will be the toughest schedule they've had leading up to the Tigers in many, many years.
