SEC Bowl Game Strategy

Jan 2, 2020, 11:31 AM

a. If they win, they are the most dominate conference in football.

b. If they lose, bowl games don't really matter.

Correction to B

If they lose, they didn't want to be there.

And play bowl games in the same or adjacent state because you had a grueling OOC schedule

I will give the $EC commissioner credit...

Jan 2, 2020, 11:38 AM

when he negotiated bowl alignments for the conference, he did a good job of ensuring teams from the $EC would rarely be the underdog.

Don't forget c)

They don't have to rely on G5 opponents to prop up their bowl record.

The SEC is 16-7 vs G5 this year. It’s like you don’t even try to sound intelligent. If anything they avoid taking losses by not playing them in bowl games.

Not exactly. The SEC is the most dominated conference. The bowl games are just reinforcing that.

Good job genius. You just proved his point. Last year the SEC went 6-6 and bowl games didn’t matter. I guess Baylor didn’t want to be there this year otherwise they blow Georgia out right?

When did I day bowl games don't matter? The Sugar Bowl mattered last year. Do I (or you, even) think last years' Texas team was better than Georgia? No. But the game mattered. If the SEC as a conference was 2-6 in bowl games instead of 6-2 there would be 25 threads on here about that.

You may not have said it but ESPN talking heads say it and SEC goobers say it when the conference doesn’t do well in bowl games. Texas beat Georgia last year, so yes they were better.

Well you are mostly right. The SEC is one of the most dominated conferences. My preference is that my conference is the most dominating conference (if one cares about that kind of stuff)!
