“ Bama is in either way is the consensus from everyone”. All the guys started nodding and agreed.
I don’t agree with this. They might still get in with a loss but I don’t think it’s 100 percent.

They can't be in with a loss. If they were confident that would happen, they could throw the game today and get both themselves and GA into the playoff.

I really have always felt that the loser of Bama / UGA is out. However, the way OU is looking, I’m not so sure. To me, from a big picture standpoint, who wants to see the same game we just saw in the SEC championship in the playoffs?

Every talking head so far has said that Alabama in the Top 4 is a foregone conclusion unless they get absolutely destroyed by Georgia. Then and only then will they give OU or OSU any thought over Bama at #4.

If Bama loses to UGA (and then if they both get in)

It'd be
1) Clemson
2) ND----. |--- These could be switched 3) UGA---'
4) Bama
That would give them the "no immediate rematch" situation.
However, I still think that barring both Oklahoma and OHST losing, Bama is not in unless it's a 1 point last second type of loss for Bama.

Alabama is in regardless of results; as well they should be. They are one of the four best teams in college football this year.

I disagree that it should be a foregone conclusion

If you have OK and OHST with 1 loss as well, but also a conference championship, coming in off a win, I think you have to give one of the other conferences a shot.
That said, you are probably right about what would happen, I just don't like the precedent of sending in the loser of the conf championship game over other conference champs with the same record.

We’ve been one of the best 4 teams all year also but how fast would they drop us out with a loss?

It's all about perception. Everyone perceives the ACC to be one of the worst conferences in college football. Therefore if we lose to Pitt today we are done, no chance of advancing. The SEC is THE college football conference and therefore to the CFP committee and every talking head Bama as a one loss non conference champ is the better option than just about any other one loss conference champ.

If Georgia beats Bama by 14+ the committee will have a debate. Bama gets in easily with a relatively close loss.

I think that it would have to be more like 21+ for them to start thinking about keeping Bama out.

You could be right if OU doesn't really stretch it out from Texas.

Well, in my opinion, you can't let Bama in two years in a row without being a conference champion.
