Re-iterating the "committee got it right" argument.

Dec 30, 2018, 12:23 PM

UGA may have theoretically given Clemson a better game, but UGA already proved they were not the best team in the country. Losing twice by getting blown out and absolutely evacuating a commanding lead in a semi-home game PROVED to us that UGA wasn't the national champ this year. A national championship isn't about winning one game that you get placed in because a majority believe you have the most chance to beat the pre-season national champs. It's about having the season that puts you in that game, and finishing.

Notre Dame hadn't proven they were not the best team in the country. Lots of people already believed that to be true, but we all needed to SEE it. On the field. Now we did. So the two best teams are playing in the championship game. Mission Accomplished.

Agreed, that is sound logic.

Well Said!

Imagine after Georgia would have gotten beaten by Clemson or Bamer. The ND folks or Oklahoma folks. . . heck even the big 10 champion folks would be screaming bloody murder. And the ND folks would be right. As you said, they hadn't disqualified their right to the title until yesterday; Georgia had twice!

The committee got it right and it really isn't even close! Had you allowed Georgia in with 2 losses you would have opened a can of worms nobody would want to deal with. Especially nobody in conferences considered weak. Or teams who supposedly didn't play anybody. It would be the "perception champs" getting in every year!

Well, here is my deal with UGA. #1: No two loss team has ever made it into the CFP. #2: Even if UGA had made it in they would have been the 4th seed, and Clemson would not have played Georgia. So, there is no scenario in which Clemson would have played Georgia unless UGA beats Bama in the semis.
