I dunno... I remember when they added that (early 90's I think). I thought it was gimmicky then, and I still do. It reminds me of the Halloween decorations they sell at the drugstore that light up and move around when their motion detectors sense you walking by.

My first game at DV was in 1989. I don't recall the waving/flashing/roaring stuff before, say, 1992 or so. Although perhaps I'm wrong and just didn't notice it until then.

They missed a chance during renovations to make an impact statement with the puny little tiger. No doubt the geeks & nerds over in Mechanical Engineering could put together something magnificent...add in a roar that doesn't sound like it's coming out of mono speaker from an AM radio station & all would be awesome.

rushed the field because the Tigers had beaten Ball St and not because its a decades long tradition for fans to "rush" the field after each game and meet and greet their team win, lose or draw
