Just curious, when and why/how did you become a Clemson fan?

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a 15 year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims, like he invented the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy – the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring, we’d make meat helmets. When I was insolent, I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds. Pretty standard, really.
So I became a Tiger fan.

I applied to NYU, NC State, UNC, and Clemson.
I decided on Clemson after my 1st choice UNC put me on a wait-list for a semester. I didn't want to wait, and it was the best decision I ever made.
Getting accepted to Clemson changed the trajectory of my life. Been a fan ever since .

My oldest daughter is a grad and her husband got his Masters and Doctorate from CU. He loves the place. His only nephew just entered. He could have gone to Dartmouth. He chose CU. We were thrilled . Now my son in law and I have to go to every game to check on him. Right. Also my 2 nephews are grads.

Love it, that's a great story. There are a lot of multi-generational Clemson families out there. I know a few like yours that I'm friendly with.
Like you, my Clemson buddies and I are still friends. My son is applying right now for fall of 2017. If he gets in it'll be pretty cool. I've always hoped that at least one child would attend Clemson. I even wrote that on my application back in 1992!
If I had to do it all over again and could go anywhere in the country I'd still go to Clemson. Best place/people on earth!

Billy Hair was a Clemson star...from Walterboro...my Dad was a friend (my Dad never spent a day in college...in fact, came home from WWII and finished HS...think they just wanted him gone) but he was big Clemson fan and eventually an IPTAY rep. I only applied to The Citadel and Clemson. Never set foot on campus till the day they shaved my head and handed an orange beanie...been hooked since...Class of 70...US Army retired...blessed to be a Clemson Tiger!!!!

I won a small scholarship that was good for almost a half semester. It had to be used for a SC school. Needless to say, there was no choice! That was in 1956 and that was when I was a fan for life!
Go Tigers!!

Grew up in Powdersville and then graduated from Clemson. I personally never considered another option but I often think about how lucky I am to have grown up here. In my career, I meet people from all over the country that could retire anywhere in the world, but they choose the lakes and mountains for their place of retirement. It reminds me of just how great of an area Clemson is in. Growing up here, it is easy to take for granted. But it's home.
Go Tigers!

And when I was young and didn't really care I told him I liked Clemson. It irritated him so bad that I decided to continue liking Clemson.

When Nuk committed. Played against him in high school and know him personally. Couldn't stand the Tigers pre Deandre because they would always let me down.... I was a VT fan for some very odd reason, I also had interest in Northwestern football too when I was younger. Don't ask why lol

1957..dribbling Baby Blue Unc Basket Ball in G'ville

having just moved there from Charlotte (DaD had attended Chapel Hole b/4 WW2)..and my new GF in G'ville invited me to join her Brother for a football game at Tigertown. I'd never heard of Clemson!
After walking around the beautiful campus..thru the main Loggia, past the Calhoun Mansion, down the outer Hill, seeing the crowd and hearing Tiger Band playing the Rag & then Tiger Team winning..
I returned home with Orange in my blood & hid my Baby Blue BB..4EVER!
Few years later i graduated from CU as did my Son 25 years later..and our lives have 4EVER been changed for the better! GoTiGERS!

My grandfather, father, and all of my uncles went to Clemson. My grandfather walked on the football team. My brother and sister also went there. I got accepted in 2003 not long before I graduated high school. Clemson was the only school i applied to while in high school. I have a Clemson hat that says Class of '37 on it. I've been going to games since I was a baby.
