Question about the Tape

Sep 12, 2017, 12:53 AM

Though I have participated and coached in many sports, I have never played or coached football. There is a term that coaches and players use "watch the tape". When they watch the tape are they usually just watching a full field view from the end zone or sidelines, or do they also have video taken that focuses more into specific position groups or players. Just wondered this and thought I would ask.

Different views and angles. Whatever helps them exploit weaknesses/tendencies/tells/habits. Both for them and for the opposing team.

Tight you can watch the LOS, wide secondary and the endzone views give you a different way to see the play.

They have video people breaking down the tape in every way imaginable.
