Question about Derrick Henry

Jan 5, 2016, 9:37 AM

Is he the best in the nation because of him or because of the Bama O-Line?

Yes he is really good, but I don't see the effort for extra yards that I see from Gallman. I also don't really see any breakaway speed like you would see with Spiller or Jacoby. So Is the the best in the nation? Or is Bama's O-line just really good?

Not really a fair question. How would Gallman or Watson

look without blockers?

I guess the real question here is DH good because of the line or in spite of the line?

I just see the best as a guy who will do everything he can to get every single inch (which is what Gallman does). DH pretty much hits the hole 20-30 times a game and racks up yards that way. I think if DH was on any other team in the nation he would not have gotten the Heisman. Just my opinion.

Well since it is essentially a popularity contest, you may

be right. However, he has exceptional ability at breaking arm tackles and rarely puts the ball on the ground.

He's not the most versatile back, preferring downhill running to sweeps or the screen game, but I'd love to see him in orange.

Is he the best in the nation? He's the best running back "like that" in the nation. He's not Dalvin Cook.

True no rb would look good without blockers but I believe he's asking more about what he does after the blocks pushing for the extra yards

Got a bad haircut once and looked bad.***

Imo it's more their o line than him in not trying to say he isn't good just not superhuman as some people seem to think

heisman finalist if they were given the ball 45 times a game.

How many RBs do you think could actually get the ball 45

times in a game and not wear down?

He's averaging 5.8 yards per carry on his first 30 carries of a game, and 6.5 yards per carry on the ones after 30.

Those numbers are from before the bowl game.***

A lot of Bama fans are saying their oline had been inconsistent this year. I think they have 3 first year starters on their oline?

Hell nobody on our O-line started until this year.

Definitely more the o-line. I don't know for sure but I'd bet that the majority of his runs over 10 yards, he wasn't even touched.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He only gets 105 yards per game

I don't want to label him under rated, because when we beat Bama I want us to take pride in beating the best back in college football. Under valuing Henry will only under value our D.
