Poor lil guy

May 19, 2020, 7:42 AM
image000000.jpg(149.0 K)

Got in the garage last night and we didn't notice. Found him sleeping on the boat deck this morning.

They do routinely get in the garage like 3 or 4 times a year. They will sit on top of the opener. I get my fishing net and extend it, bird hops on, and I escort him back outside.

That's extreme. I'd go with birdslaughter. It was irresponsible and caused the death of this majestic bird. This bird may have had 2 more great years, but no. Thoughts and prayers. RIP

What you gonna do, paint whiskers on your face, take off

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, dummy. Cause things with whisker celebrat bird murder.

May 19, 2020, 8:07 AM

But I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't even pull a car into that garage and were just using it to get in and out of the house.

Even with the new work table

May 19, 2020, 8:45 AM

There's room for the boat, 2 cars, kids ride ons, mower, and lots of other crap.

If you ever build, build a big garage. The standard garage plans are terribly insufficient.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If I ever build, I'm building a proper shop out back.

May 19, 2020, 9:53 AM

Just a personal preference to not have all that other stuff where the cars go.

I sometimes daydream about replacing my current shed with a bigger structure with interior partitions so I can store greasy stuff in one spot, have a wood shop in one section and have all the brewing stuff in a 3rd. While I'm at it I would have an upstairs with a granny flat of sorts.

Found a bird nest in our garage yesterday.

May 19, 2020, 7:56 AM

Never got completed thankfully. Usually if we open the door and walk around in the garage they fly out.

We recently cleaned the house windows and now we have birds flying into the windows.

We have birds in yard.

May 19, 2020, 8:02 AM

I may take this before the HOA board and see what can be done about it.

and peeing you know because they poop when they pee.

Re: Pooping wherever they please

May 19, 2020, 8:07 AM

That is interesting.

"Birds convert nitrogen to uric acid instead: this is metabolically more costly but saves water and weight, as it is less toxic and doesn't need to be diluted so much. Birds therefore don't have a urethra, and don't pee – all waste leaves via the anus."

Cloaca not anus. If you’re going to go all technical, get it right.

They can have the yard.

May 19, 2020, 8:09 AM [ in reply to We have birds in yard. ]

Garage is encroachment.

I apologized to them for the newly cleaned windows. Give them another 8 years and they'll be safe again. Scares the crap out of you when they nail the window.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-tiggity-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We've got a feeder pretty close to one of our windows.

May 19, 2020, 8:11 AM

Come August there will be humming birds fighting over the feeder and will often fly one another into the glass,

Supposedly you can put some fake bird sticker or something like that and they won't fly into it. I've never tried it myself though.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We have one in the wreath on our door.

May 19, 2020, 9:31 AM [ in reply to Found a bird nest in our garage yesterday. ]

It has two little finch eggs in it. I'm guessing they aren't going to hatch.
