Please answer this question for me

Mar 4, 2018, 9:39 AM

I cant remember who was batting but on a 3-2 count Beer broke for second
it ended up being ball 4 why was beer ruled out? I was under the impression
that after it was called ball four time out was given and everybody moves up 1
base. Even if beer came off the bag Time had been awarded for the walk. If the
fact Beer slid off the base and was tagged out then on every ball 4 you could
throw down to second and tag the runner out. It makes no sense to me. Help
please. This was just 1 of many bad calls yesterday, the tag out at home plate
We had an extremely good view and he slid under tag, clearly!! Home plate ump
was closer but he was on the wrong side to call that play, did he do it on purpose?
Any little league ump would have been on the right side to make that call. His
view was clearly blocked by the catcher.

When the runner on first is running on the pitch and thinks there is still a play on the steal and slides or tries to avoid the tag and comes off the bag can be tagged out. Not something you see very often.

Monte said in his presser that ump said he told Beer it was ball four. Monte said Beer didn’t hear him and still thought it was a play on.

Horrible coot call imo but that’s the rules. Still think the ump should have awarded him the bag.

Thank you. I like to think I know a little bit about baseball. When ever that play
happens the ump usually calls it loud enough to hear and the runner pulls up. I guess
when the crew rides on your bus the Db level falls just enough to not be heard by the
Clemson players.

I was there and it was beers fault. The umpire never made a signal that he was out and beer didn’t know it was ball 4 and came off the bag. Sucks but unfortunately the right call. The only way he gets second base in that position still is if the umpire did make an out of signal in which case the umpire can overturn it and give him the base

Once he touches second base, it's a live ball. If he had walked to second they could not have tagged him out before he got there. Once he establishes possession of second base, he is under all the rules that govern running the bases.
