Philpot, DJ Swearinger and Thuggery:

Dec 6, 2012, 2:54 PM
Stereotype.jpg(30.4 K)

What comes to mind when you see the man in the image above?

If you said "Cowboy" you need to reconsider your life. Who said this man is a cowboy? You dont know him. You dont know whether or not he's ever wrangled horses. He's actually a Wall Street Banker.

I heard some butthurt Coot call in to Roy's show yesterday about how nobody knows DJ Swearinger and Roy backed off and apologized for a caller calling DJ a thug.
Look.....if you're going to dress like a thug, look like a thug, and call yourself "Jungle Boi" dont get hurt when people think you're a thug.

If you disagree, apologize to my banker friend up above.

Dec 6, 2012, 3:16 PM

was a kid, Lash Larue came to the shopping center in her home town. She was crazy about the TV cowboys, so of course went to see him. She got picked to hold a coke bottle while Lash attempted to take the top off with a whip while she was holding it. She held the bottle, and dern if he didn't take the top off with 1 crack of the whip. No injuries either. Now Lash probably never wrangled cattle being only a TV cowboy, but he really could use the whip!

Can you post a picture of what a thug looks like and dresses like?

I do agree with your cowboy example above...you shouldn't pass judgment on someone just because of what they look like.

See this pic? The thug is the guy on the ground, holding his head. The Clemson player is actually a respected police officer now.

And time will tell whether Dj deserves respect also. But right now all I have to go on is three consecutive unsportsmanlike penalties against Arkansas (is that an NCAA record?) and his antics at Clemson.

Re: Philpot, DJ Swearinger and Thuggery:

Dec 7, 2012, 8:33 AM

Go back and look at the tape. #1 was a questionable horse collar tackle; even the announcers questioned it. #2 was a personal foul, helmet to helmet hard hit, but not one that drew a suspension as the offensive player lowered his head as DJ did. #3 was the very next play, with DJ scoring on a pick six and in his excitement, tossing the ball into the stands.

Does that represent a thug? You may say "yes" and if so, ok, we'll agree to disagree.

There is no doubt DJ is a thug on the football field, I do not know him personally to speak about his demeaner off the field, I have only witnessed him playing at Karoliner. He talks smack to everyone on the opposing team, if he makes a tackle on the sideline he his talking smack to every receiver he can. My problem is this, Usc's staff puts up with that crap and as a matter of fact Lorenzo Ward said that if you can't back it up then don't do it. What kind of message is that? He said he liked to talk some junk when he played. I played and there are certain teams and players that make you want to do that, but I normally refrained from that because I would let my play speak for itself, then when we won I would point to the scoreboard enough said!

The other problem I have is that the Sec officials let them get by with that crap, they have done it for the past couple of years. The Rock Hill gang has led Usc in that crap, Gilmore, Hollemon and now Clowney. He tried that junk the last tackle on Tajh and Brandon Ford jerked him off of him. Clowney does not need that in his game his play speaks for itself, he is the best Defensive End in college football. Shows some class it will come back to haunt you, I don't care the "sun does not shine on the same dog's butt all the time!"

Usc hated Miami and FSU for that crap now they take pride in it, go figure!

Re: Philpot, DJ Swearinger and Thuggery:

And no Clemson players have ever talked smack? Countless times I've witnessed Clemson players talk smack after a hard hit, great play, etc. And what's funny, is many of these times, it's happened when the Tigers have been down significantly behind. Don't quite understand that.

After the thug-like attack on Carolina's players at 'The Brawl' (see pic above with Clemson player's foot in Carolina player's ear - which got media attention, nationwide), how can you refer to ANY player from ANY other school as a 'thug'?

As for the sun shining on a dog's butt thing, perhaps DJ's antics are simply an example of just that. Only this year the sun was shining on the Gamerooster, no?

Just a thought. Oh, and btw, you guys need to cut out this thug talk. It is not sitting well in certain quarters. A little piece of friendly advice, that's all.

I have to respond to the picture of Gene Autry and Champ.

Dec 7, 2012, 8:51 AM

Gene Autry was at one time the number one box office draw in movies. He interrupted his career to join the Army Air Corp during WWII. He flew supplies over the "Hump" in Burma for troops cut off by the enemy. He came back and continued his movie career. He recorded the original version of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. He wrote and recorded dozens of songs including one you hear every day at this time, "Here Comes Santa Claus." Autry went on to own several TV and radio stations. He also owned the California Angles for many years. He died ion his 90's as one of the richest people on Hollywood.
Why was his picture used in this context?

And gold teeth are much more thuggish than his hair, which is braids....not dreadlocks

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Not Bob Marley. The gang signs

Dec 8, 2012, 11:59 AM

Swearinger doesn't have any (visible) gold teeth. Though he has had braids in the past, he currently has short dreadlocks. I've never seen him throw up a gang sign, but I'll defer to you on that one.

Otherwise he is just a hard-hitting player with a good GPA and who has no arrest record.
