is that it would have only been a one-year deal. Auburn is so unhappy with Malzahn that they're undermining him by not approving any multi-year assistant coaching contracts.
The guy Gus really wanted to hire was Hugh Freeze, but Auburn wouldn't go for it unless, again, it was a one-year deal.

This whole fiasco is going to set Auburn back a while. Once Gus is gone their coaching search will get drawn out forever, because any good candidate will wamt to steer clear of a place that dysfunctional.

I don't really get why they hate Gus. Must have missed something. But if you're going to make things that tough on your HC - you're insuring a lousy program for years to come.

Heck, have they been doing that to AU for 3 or 4 years, now? AU has had a new OC every year for that long and it isn't bc of success like at Bama.
