Interested to hear your take.

Our liberals are not as liberal as you might think.

They talk a lot of socialist chit but most of them are just taking any position which is counter to Trump. It's a game. I bet a Bernie and AOC ticket wouldn't get five votes in here unless they ran against Hitler and Putin and they'd probably vote for Hitler or Putin to keep Trump out of office.
The old folks call it 'Cutting off your nose to spite your face.'

That is such an odd interpretation as it looks like that is exactly what many Trump voters did to those of us outside that group. Not all but many people who voted for him basically said/thought “screw our morals, screw ethics, screw all the things we claimed to care about for decades. Trump makes libs mad, I hate government, vote Trump”.
He is basically the result of a nation-wide temper tantrum fed by low participation and apathy by the public at large.
Most people I know are Trump supporters and very few can put together an intelligible defense of him and why they support him and these aren’t unintelligent people. Those that do generally boil down to Supreme Court nominees.
As for who I would want even though I am not a true lib. - Someone who isn’t a human POS is a big plus - Someone who is going to be serious about debt control/reduction - Stay the F out of people’s personal lives. - Find/explore a reasonable way to address growing income inequality issues that are going to bite us in the ### eventually and do so without screwing over any one group - Address climate issues in a way that doesn’t destroy businesses/jobs but moves the demand into better alternatives bringing about a controlled switch to less destructive options. - Someone who will call out both sides for their incessant BS and hypocrisy without lying, making #### up or flat denying facts/reality - Someone who will take a stronger stance with Saudi Arabia - Someone who will work with the younger generations in Iran to bring them around over time (we were doing this until Trump #### on them) - Someone who will push for ways to stop the over the top gerrymandering by both sides. Competitive districts are good for everyone.
I could keep going but unfortunately, I have not really seen anyone who fits that bill yet and I doubt I will. So, in the end it will be down to who address most of these areas without being so far out there on an issue that I can’t support them.

made. Nothing in your statement can truly be defined as a Pub or Dem issue. However, the current administration seems to be h e l l bent on doing the opposite of everything you just said.
And add to that, it would be nice to have a president who is capable of a basic understanding of economics and trade.

Not really a lib, but here goes:
Jun 12, 2019, 11:45 AM
|
|
1. Hickenlooper (doesn’t look good) centrist who would win general election 2. Bullock “ “ 3. Mayor Pete (Looks very good) not sure he could win 4. Biden (Looks very good) centrist who would win
I would never vote for Bernie, Warren, Booker or Harris.
Think it will be Biden or Mayor Pete. Assuming both would pick a female running mate.

Biden was far from being a socialist when this started.

He has an outside shot at beating Trump. I believe he will be pushed toward the left until you can't see room between him and Robin Sanders, I mean, Bernie Hood. I wish Biden hadn't screwed the pooch on gov funding for abortions. He has no choice but to continue that path or flipflop again.
Imo, he's the only one with a chance for the nomination who can land moderate voters. Someday America will become socialist. It's inevitable but that's not happening now.

I'm a strong lean toward Tulsi Gabbard.
She's a combat veteran, a mother and someone who understands the problems caused by so much money in our political system as well as the monumental waste in our Dept. of Defense.
She is strong on national security but dead set against wars to effect regime change. "...“regime change wars are bankrupting our country and our moral authority.”
She understands the biased news media and the harm that it does our country. "The media has such an incredible responsibility and that's just not what we see anymore. We see opinions. The facts and the news are lost."
She seems sincere and her life, thus far, has been emblematic of service to others.

Bernie didn't stand a chance, even if he had a chance.
If I was a Dem I'd be more pissed about that than Trump winning, but you never really hear anything about it.
Its kinda like if you find out your wife is cheating on you, and you're mad at the guy who she cheated with.
