On the intentional grounding at goalline

Sep 13, 2014, 9:45 PM

Did the usc defender not deflect the ball? If so not sure the is grounding?

Would have been 2 and goal f try on 3.

The play call was beyond stupid to begin with.

Was not a stupid call. He was clearly throwing it to the ground behind the line of scrimmage. Correct call.

But if the ball doesn't get deflected it hits the ground right in front of the target...would not have called grounding. Bad call.

1st & goal on the 4, you need to run the clock, you have the best back in the nation and 3 more like him, and you call a pass play? I agree. Stupid call. But as they say, if it worked ...

line of scrimmage? Besides, he was throwing it at the feet of his receiver, but it was deflected by the defender and landed off line and well behind his target.

Meaning they should have run Gurley instead of calling that pass play

I would have given it to Gurley until he got in or got

college f f,

Read my post again. I said "play call (i.e., Ga's decision to throw the ball)" given a first and goal on the 4 with Gurley, Marshall, that fullback and company.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe, but they still woulda had 3 tries from the 4 yd line

Sep 13, 2014, 10:07 PM [ in reply to Re: On the intentional grounding at goalline ]

if the refs hadn't blown the call.
