Ohio State defense....

Truthfully their defense is playing ultra efficient and dominating opponents but looking at the teams they've beaten offensively it's humorous it hasn't been brought up by anyone. The top rated offense they've played this season (that had their starters) was Florida Atlantic, ironically also the team that put up the most points on them at 21. Not to mention outscored Ohio State through 3 quarters after being blown out in the first.
Yes their defense is much improved, yes Chase Young is a beast, and yes they're playing offenses that even UofSC could look good against.

QB has been sacked 21 times in 9 games......against relatively unimpressive competition. How’s that gonna look against a Defense that is bringing the pain?

They've played so so talent defensively that is well coached. The 21 sacks is inexcusable though, "super mobile" QB shouldn't be getting sacked that much.

I just went through their schedule and I'm not sure they have played a talented defensive team outside of maybe Wisconsin.
Who else would be considered a decent defense?
Mich St was in theory until results started to say otherwise.
Cinci gave up 40+ to ECU.
I'm not sure who else has talent.
Northwestern and a couple of others may fall under well coached but not even average in terms of talent.
I haven't watched OSU play much, but I'm guessing the sacks are due to him always thinking he can keep the play alive. Is this true?

Do you have a link to a site that'll show what their opposing offenses are rated? Thanks!

Not sure where you are getting some of that info...Here's direct from the week 11 S&P.

S&P+ still has Alabama rated higher than LSU even Bama lost head to head. They have lost a lot of credibility.

Hate to say it but it looked to me like Alabama was a better team than LSU. Without some bad bounces they would have won by 10+.
They left points on the table their first two drives with Tua mysteriously dropping the ball on the way into the end zone and then missing a chip-shot field goal, and then again later when Tua couldn't run for a TD because, well, he couldn't run.
LSU's offense can move the ball and score some points, but their defense is frail by SEC standards. LSU doesn't even have a Top-25 defense and it showed - a lot - against Bama.
Of course, Alabama's D isn't much better.
I actually think the reality is even simpler - the SEC in general ain't that great this year.

They also got 2 very lucky bounces. A kick return which is generally a fluke for anyone but Spiller. And LSU allowing that 80 yard TD when they should have been in prevent with 2 minutes left. They had no business being gifted that.
The Tua fumble was a bad bounce but a total error for Bama.

They try to predict future results, not compare team resumes.
LSU made up a lot of ground on Bama in SP+ with that win, but not quite enough to catch them.

Glancing over those stats, it's obvious that OSU is about to play against the most complete team (Penn St) and the best defensive unit (Michigan) that they will face this season. It will be interesting to see how the Penn St/OSU game shakes out. I think we will learn a lot from that game.
Penn St will have the best offense that OSU will face and the second best defensive unit. Michigan will be the toughest defense they will face.

With games like Idaho, Buffalo and Maryland skewing stats I don't know if I say they're the most complete. Penn has failed to eclipse 300 yards aside from 302 at Michigan state against top teams. Minnesota who's had multiple close calls with non power 5 teams gave up 500. Tough for me to see the Buckeyes even close to struggling with Penn State.

You are right. Penn St isn't close to being a complete team overall. I was basing my statement on the stats provided and it showed that Penn St will be the closest thing to a complete team that OSU will face. Yet we both know that Penn St isn't as complete as thos stats indicate. It's still going to be interesting to see how OSU fairs against Penn St. I wouldn't be shocked to see Penn St pull the upset by 6.

Not sure where you are getting soe of that info to say their best offense they played was FAU (it's actually Indiana), but here's how it shows on the S&P, compared to ours....both sides.

As stated "that had their starters" Indiana was without starting QB that had them as a solid offense from a production standpoint.

good. OSU's defense is legit and good defenses tend to travel and show up in big games. The only real question i have about OSU is how Fields and Day will do on the biggest stage. They are still relative unknowns that havent been there before.
