OL Recruting

In my opinion, this year’s recruiting class is not looking great. As you seen from Duke’s performance in the 1st half of last night’s game, the OL wins football games although the OL didn't dominate in the 2nd half. We need bigger and faster OL. QB is only as good as how much time the OL will allow him to have.
For some of us from the Clemson area, we had the opportunity to watch Daniel High School do some amazing things in the 90's when Allen Sitterle was the head coach and the best OL coach that i have ever seen ( Not saying that they are not doing good things now). Even the years when the talent was low he had great success in the trenches. After being a defensive guy growing up, Coach Sitterle changed my prospective that ball games were won in the trenches. It's my humble opinion; the Tigers need a new OL coach and recruit better OL. If I was Dabo, i would knock coach Sitterle door down and make an offer to come out of retirement. If nothing else, come and teach someone how it’s done. As some of us still call Coach Ford, Daddy Danny, I call Allen Sitterle Daddy went it comes to the OL coaching…lol.. I would attend the morning practices at Daniel and watch in amazement (cold chill moments). I always have said; that a good coach can take a team with less talent and beat the team with more talent as coach Sitterle did his first year at Daniel beating a 6A Alabama High School ball team that had 96 ball players and were ranked 5th nationally. Their coach made a statement to Sitterle before the game; “You will think that you have played a collage team when it’s over”. They beat them 28 -21.
Tigers have two OL that are committed, one 4 star and one 3. You can recruit all of the play makers and speedsters all day long but they will only be as good as the OL will allow. Back when Tommy came to Clemson, his staff recruited TE’s to make OL out of them, how did that did that work out? I use to say that he had it backwards. That he needed the big OL guys like his Daddy had, big OL that could pull and run. I’m not making this statement to hurt recruiting because my blood doe’s run orange but I felt that I needed to throw in my coaching 2 cents of hoping the Tigers staff will see the weak spot of this team ( Which is better under Dabo). Although, knowing that the staff and others could care less of my opinion. I guess you could say it makes me feel better. I do believe that the Tigers currently have OL talent but are they receiving the coaching that is needed?

is that you allen? you still don't have a job? you really need to stop telling people you played for the steelers because you know people can check pretty easily.

and D line is where it stops
Get some top trench players to go with the skill and speed Clemson is getting and the Tigers will be a major contender every year.

Coach Sitterle

What nice things you said about Coach Sitterle. He is enjoying his grandchildren and his retirement. He was not just a great football coach, but an outstanding math teacher. I was fortunate enough to have taught down the hall from him for a few years. I always loved listening to his stories and very wise views on things. He is a great guy and did indeed play at NC State and for the Steelers. Glad to see others remembering what a great coach he is.
