THIS just aired on 107.5 in Columbia!

Dec 3, 2013, 1:04 PM

A woman called in, gamecock alum, and said her daughter chose clemson and was in the band. She said she was disgusted at SCAR fans! Her daughter and other members of band were verbally attacked all day, with obscenities, and had stuff thrown at them. She said they were afraid to go to the bathroom.

After all this she talked about being ashamed of her alma mater's fan base, the host (Tim is his name I think) told the caller basically sorry to hear that but "Your daughter picked the wrong school".

I live in Columbia and can tell you, this is the culture here. You can buy players and coaches, but this place can't buy class! Unreal.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

OH WOW!***

I remember back, many years ago, when we used to be losers like you guys have become. Any team that beat us had horrible fans. Now we have the "horrible fans." I just sit back and smile. Can't win, make up lies.

What do you call the students flipping off our players and throwing trash at the Clemson players and band? Is that "normal?"

Dec 3, 2013, 8:58 PM

I guess none of you watched the replay of last year's game. The best moment was when one of your Orange clad "classy" fans gave the finger to the whole world. We loved it.

The worst was when your fans stomped a live chicken to death on the field at DV. Yep you guys just drip class.

Don't worry, you're still a loser.***

Don't recognize the truth. Don't force yourself to admit that all fan bases are pretty much the same. Don't force yourself to admit that all teams have some bad apples…

Just throw a few big words, use the word "rhetoric" incorrectly, and make up some ridiculous scenario that has no basis in reality.

You must really hate the mirror some mornings.

According to Columbia police, Geathers was fighting with a security guard in the parking lot of the Lady Street club when officers arrived at 3:10 a.m. Police spokesman Brick Lewis said Geathers failed to comply with officers’ commands, was slurring his words, using profanity and “swinging his arms and pulling away” from an officer who tried to detain him. Lewis said it took two officers to get handcuffs on Geathers, the tallest player on the Gamecocks’ roster. When they detained him, officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Geathers, Lewis said. “He just didn’t want to cooperate,” Lewis said. “We got one cuff on him, and eventually moved on to the other. And that’s when we had assistance from the other officer.” Lewis said he did not know how the fight started. The report says the officer asked Muldrow to stop and to come toward him, and that Muldrow threw the bottle in the bushes. he report says Muldrow cooperated and gave his name. According to the incident report, the officer smelled alcohol on Muldrow and said the player "had reddened eyes and slurred speech. "Incoming freshman linebacker Muldrow, from Atlanta, will be suspended from the team, pending a legal review. Usc is trying to be like their Sec brethren, go to Jawja, Bama or LSU and this is their mentality to. Look I have been going to Clemson games since 1968 and we have had our isolated red neck fans too, but that is not the norm for us. I have sit all over DV all those years and certainly have witnessed childish fans make fools of themselves, but in Willy Brice they try and not only imtimidate players, they do the same throughout to visiting fans especially us, so is it out of hand? Yes it is and onaverage they cannot say that about DV, I have personally tried to make opossing fans feel welcome in our stadium and that has been true even to Carolina fans. You will not get that in Columbia. You can't wear your colors without some smart end comment about we can't touch Orange or ewe look at that color yadda yadda.
They feel justified and now vindicated because they are finally on top for an extended period. Until we beat them and run that drunk Spurrier off the beatings and imtimidation will continue!

I know you are all very eager to pull out the class card, but why don't you give all the information first?

You have to realize that SC fans have lifetimes of bad memories of Clemson, so while it is not an excuse, they enjoy beating the Tigers. So, while some SC fans are bad, I will admit, but if that is the type of proof you need to fulfill your generalizations of Gamecock supporters, you need to do better than that.

My grandmother

Dec 3, 2013, 2:12 PM

Is a gamecock, she dislikes spurrier and quit going to games in the early 80's because of their home fans and it wasn't appropriate to take children. She watches from her couch while many friends and family still brave that insane asylum. I think she's one of the only true scar fans.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: My grandmother

Dec 3, 2013, 2:19 PM

That has nothing to do with being a Gamecock fan and everything to do with today's lower standards of what is acceptable. My son lived in Seneca for the first 4 years of his life and I had to on numerous occasions call someone down for language about a shirt my son was wearing or just the way they behaved in general towards him. Smoking in the kids playground at the Mickey D's on Clemson Blvd and I was told that if I didn't like it I could take my little ####### Coot and go somewhere else. Point being is that it's everywhere. Columbia is a bigger town so there may be more instances to point to but it boils down to a lack of discretion on how society in general acts, garnet, orange, red or yellow, There are plenty of people out there that can be offensive to some and others find it acceptable.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Tell me, does your son/daughter participate in any sporting

events? Maybe I can toss some bottles and cans at them since today's lower standards are acceptable.

Fact is, you wouldn't like it, and I would imagine you would have a big problem with me if I did so, correct? If you can answer that question honestly, then you're a step closer in gaining a speck of sense...

Of what you see. When sc won the game in 2010 I had an elderly lady continuously make smart and rude comments to me while I was waiting to get through the tunnel but you don't hear me whining about it. No wonder your team crumples when someone says something to them, it emanates from your university like a pulse of sadness.

Rudeness and Intimidation!

Dec 3, 2013, 2:31 PM [ in reply to Believe nothing that you hear and only half ]

There is no room for rudeness, imtimidation and/or belittling someone for rooting for their team and wearing their colors. You guys think that all the spoils should go to the victors and I say act like you been there before and win with grace and class. That is all I am asking for and our society has bought into the above Roman scenario. It is common to think it is perfectly OK to treat people any way you want if you beat them and I say I am too old school for that. My coaches did not tolerate this kind of behavior and expected us to knock you on your tail and then help you up. You can play with sportsmanship and that goes for the fans in the stands. I have three grown sons and I would not dare to take them to a Carolina vs Clemson game when they were little at Williams Brice and it is worse now then in the 80's & 90's. I would hate to think someone from Carolina would not bring their child to Clemson, but it is going to get worse cause animosity just breeds animosity. Are we creating anarcy, yes we are and we do not even realize it.

Some of you guys really are turning into what the coot fans were when we wrecked them year in and year out. Why are you even listening to their radio show? Re: THIS just aired on 107.5 in Columbia!

Dec 3, 2013, 2:35 PM

I honestly do not believe the throwing of bottles BS. Every single time you go to a hostile environment you will have people yell at you (when you are wearing opposing teams colors) especially in a rivalry situation, but as one who has worked security at these events, throwing of garbage is an offense that not only gets you expelled from a game but likely charged with assault. I hear this argument after every single loss and away game. Give it a rest.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's ok to verbally assault, throw items at Clemson players, fans, band members etc with intent to hit them, because Clemson threw stuff in the end zone with nothing coming close to hitting ANY person. Is coot logic the rule of law now? Sorry we have owned the history and you've got deep down bad feelings, but we don't attack fans or players, or spit on them, win/lose or draw.

I was sitting in the student section. The play in question in 2012 took place somewhere near midfield. The dozen or so people throwing stuff threw it in the east end zone. The closest people were our own cheerleaders and a couple photographers.
