Notre Dame jumping to #3 in the rankings after their

colossal 12-7 win over Lewisville shows just how screwed up this 2020 college football season is so far.
Butt, we know that half a dozen BIG teams will jump into the rankings next week, further muddying the waters.
It will be interesting to see how high the Buckynuts debut.

Lou was supposed to be pretty good. Wonder what happened to them this year? Injuries?

Their offensive line and entire defense are not good.
Apparently it takes more than a QB, 1 RB, and 1 WR to be a good football team.
That fact was overlooked during the preseason hype.

that if an undefeated Clemson beat Louisville 12-7, we would drop 2 to 3 places in the poll.

But ND has not been sullied

by it’s association with the ACC, yet. Playing a full season with us might take the automatic assumption of god-like football prowess off the table.

Good Point! The thing about most of your major conferences including the SEC is: "they are top heavy"! All those years Florida State was winning everything; did they have the same intense schedule scrutiny our Tigers have had to hear about? No. Much of that granted is because the playoffs is around now; but still under the BCS one would think the same rules would have applied. In 2013 Florida State a ACC team proved on the football field they were better than SEC champion Auburn! Or SEC representative Auburn! Of the Power 5 conferences in the last 10 years how many have had multiple teams win it or play for it? Not the Pac 12. Not the Big 12. Not the Big 10. Only the ACC and SEC has had multiple teams win it. You would have to go back 20 years for two Big 12 teams(Texas in 05, Oklahoma in 00). In that same time period only 1 Pac 12 team one anything! 03 joint title with LSU Southern Cal and then in 2004 Southern Cal won it outright. I think Oregon played Ohio State for it in 2014. The Big 10 is even worse only having Ohio State win in 14 and 02(shouldn't have that was not p.i.). And, nobody else has played for it.
Including "NOW MEMBER" Miami going back to 2000 the ACC has 3 different schools to have played for it and win it. Some have played for it and didn't win it - but played for it counts in this scenario. Miami played for it in 02 and won it in 2001. So saying all that jazz about the conference is more of an indictment of the current state of FSU and Miami! Miami is coming around and FSU is blessed with too many resources to stay down for long! The whole ACC business in other words gets blown way out of proportion and begs the question - "why don't these other conferences deserve the same criticism when they have produced less"?

I am pretty sure the polls will change the second that the bucknuts take the field - they will go right to number three- and by the end of the game will be the new #1 team- then the same thing will happen at the end of the season- Clemson will beat them again and it will be another year of complaining- Clemson had an unfair advantage- they played more games- we did get the calls, ACC is weak, and so on and so on!- So it will be the same as any other season.

And we had a close game against NC and dropped in the polls. Shows ND prejudice.

I think this is an example of people wanting to make apples to apples comparisons whenever that's not the case. First of all, there's a difference in the race for the #1 ranking, and the race for #3. If you're #1 this early in the season then you likely have at least 1 or 2 teams behind you that are unbeaten and well thought of.
When you're ranked somewhere between 3-5 then you're likely being compared to teams that have more flaws. In the case of ND this past week, they were ranked #4 going into the week. The team that was ranked #3 lost which allowed them to move up. The team that was ranked right behind them at #5 lost, and then none of the remaining top 10 played this past week.

I wish they had replaced us at #1. Nothing like pummeling the #1 team.

Notre Dame put 12 points on the board, at home, against a team that let Georgia Tech score 46 the week before and Miami score 47 two weeks before that. Just saying.

It is so great to have Notre Dame come into the lowly ACC conference and with its great football past bring the conference into the lime light!
Don't get me wrong- Notre Dame has a storied past and wonderful players- just not in the past 20 years.
