If Clemson had missed a game winning FG

Oct 18, 2016, 9:24 AM

we would not get away with claiming some kind of moral victory, and the opponent would get full credit for the win. Am I wrong?

Go Tigers!!!!

but a few years ago, yes. If we had taken the #3 team to OT (with a chance to win) on their home field, we would have felt pretty good about ourselves.

Did you vs Auburn 2010, when we almost beat Cam Newton and Catanzaro missed the second attempt at the FG? That will tell you.

I felt like we started to turn a corner at that game

Oct 18, 2016, 9:35 AM

we finally looked like we wanted to play a physical brand of football. I was upset with the loss, but I was extremely positive in way we played. If thats moral victory, so be it.

Now, I had no way of knowing that we would throw in the towel on the year after that game.

I thought we did in 2014 @ FSU - 2 missed FGs and as I recall we felt pretty darn upset ...

2014 is too recent. Say mid-2000s. The Bowden days***

Re: Not only did they miss the game winning FG, BUUUUUUT,

Exactly right. State had chances to win despite the missed FG. They didn't score in overtime and they didn't take advantage of three other turnovers. One play does not win or lose a game. They had about 150 other plays in the game and didn't get it done. Stop the whining about the FG. It was one play in 150. They couldn't get it done. The best team won.
