Not just recruits fleeing the coop...(c/p)

or Spurrier is thinning out the herd again....

(sorry if germanic)

Deon Green set to transfer from Gamecocks

DWAYNE MCLEMORE

Redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Deon Green will transfer from the South Carolina football team.

The fourth-year player redshirted in 2011 and 2012 because of a knee injury. He had four tackles in 11 games this season.

Green named the most-improved defensive lineman by the coaching staff in the spring and played some at defensive end.

He grew up in Bowman, just outside Orangeburg, before transferring to Olympia High in Windermere, Fla. Green was considered a three-star prospect and the nation's 50th-best defensive tackle by Rivals.

Green is the second player (joining fullback Gerald Turner) who is leaving the team.

USC is expected to lose more current players to transfers, but Steve Spurrier on Wednesday night was not ready to identify which ones.

“We anticipate some players with a year of eligibility to graduate and go, maybe, to a smaller school and play some,” he said. “We recommend they do that. We have some guys going into their fifth year that we don’t think are going to play much here, so go somewhere you can play.”

Quarterback-turned-tight end Brendan Nosovitch will remain with the team through at least spring practice, Spurrier said

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

We are doing the same type of thing with some players (i.e. Region). The difference is, we have not upset any former high school coaches. I think Spurrier really upset Moe Brown's high school coach enough for him to black-ball him from recruiting at Westside.

How do you thin the herd of someone who graduated?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Because they chose NOT to stay for their last year of eligibility

Duh. Deal with it
