So this is 2020 roster possibilities with some true freshmen

Jul 27, 2019, 3:10 PM

in the 3 deep. This is assuming Nyles Pinckney at DT and
A.J. Terrell at CB, both juniors, leave early, correct?

I believe that I left off Simmons, Terrell, Nyles, Kelly, Spector, and Greg Williams.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Simmons probably leaves after this year

Jul 27, 2019, 3:23 PM

I forgot those other guys too.

Simmons and Terrell are definitely gone. Nyles is a high possibility considering he should graduate and I think he’s going to have an All-ACC caliber season. And we’ll obviously have some transfers.

Now do one for offense.

Re: The possibilities are endless

Jul 27, 2019, 3:25 PM

QB: Trevor Lawrence, DJ Uigalelei, Taisun Phommachanh
RB: Lyn-J Dixon, Chez Mellusi, Demarckus Bowman

WR: Justyn Ross, Frank Ladson, EJ Williams
WR: Joseph Ngata, TJ Chase, Ajou Ajou
WR: Cornell Powell, Brannon Spector, Will Swinney
TE: Braden Galloway, JC Chalk, Jaelyn Lay

OT: Jackson Carman, Blake Vinson, Walker Parks
OG: Matt Bockhorst, Paul Tchio, Mason Trotter
OC: Cade Stewart, Hunter Rayburn, Mitchell Mayes
OG: Chandler Reeves, Will Putnam, Bryn Tucker
RT: Jordan McFadden, Kaleb Boateng, John Williams

Offensive line is subject to change. Hopefully Putnam and Rayburn can push for a starting spot. The freshmen will have plenty of opportunities to compete for PT early. But, it’s hard to imagine them starting over veterans.

Shame on you for leaving Chase Brice

Jul 27, 2019, 4:12 PM

Chase is too good to be a backup behind Trevor for another year lol. He could start for most schools in the country.

He would start for most schools, no doubt. Even only playing limited snaps last year he is a HUGE reason we won it all. I won’t ever forget that throw and catch against Cuse. His emotion lit me on fire!

Re: Shame on you for leaving Chase Brice

I would love it if Chase stays because you can never have enough good QBs, but I would also be very supportive of him if he decided to transfer. Zerrick Cooper, Hunter Johnson, and KB all decided to transfer. I think, in the end, it will be shown that that was the best decision for them to make. It was just a testament to how good Trevor is.

I think this is why Venables is here and will stay here. He loves the defense and if he were a head coach he would be too busy dealing with fans, alumni, school politics etc that he would lose touch with the trenches he is so at home in. He will have these kids smashing helmets and I almost feel sorry for the competition!

Venables may not stick around when he finds out that Leon left his other son off his three deep. I think he's a safety.

in this case, you are correct, comrade!

Assuming DJ is great at QB, 2021 and 2022 will be Dabo's best teams ever.

This year and next year will be fun too.

I think there is a great chance we will have at least 2 more championships by the time DJ graduates. And 2 is conservative.

Perhaps Herbstreit should have saved his great line. He's gonna need it again.
