anyone else think the Rose is likely off the table?

Nov 26, 2017, 11:19 PM

Regardless of where we land Tuesday (1 or 2)... I don’t see how a win over Miami doesn’t put us at #1, which would mean Sugar.

Even if we are 2 on Tuesday, a Miami win would give us another huge resume bump and put us 1 in the final poll. The only exception I see is if AU is somehow ahead of us on Tues and they beat UGA. But I don’t see any way they are #1 Tues.

Sugar and New Orleans are better. I've been to LA a dozen times. Don't bother.

Rose is in Pasadena, not LA

Nov 26, 2017, 11:51 PM

Got a nice little entertainment district and all adjacent to Caltech and nice neighborhoods (until you get past PCC). All safe walking for the most part. New Orleans is a big sewer.

Caltech is more than an hour’s walk from the Rose Bowl

Nov 27, 2017, 12:26 AM

I wouldn’t recommend it. But yes, the neighborhoods in San Marino are elite.

Rose is not happening for us, we will be the #1 seed if we win Saturday.

I'm not even going to speculate who will go to the Rose otherwise at this point.

I think its still very possible that wisconsin gets 1 seed if they win. We shall see...

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

don’t see that... if they win

Nov 26, 2017, 11:38 PM

I don’t see how they jump any of Clemson, OU, or AU (assuming they win)

I’m not sure they would jump UGA or Miami if they won, but that is more likely than jumping the others, IMO.

We will have 8 wins over teams with a winning record and 6 teams that were ranked (when we played them) in the Top 25, only 1 of those wins was a home game for us. BC is also reguarded as a quality win. If AU wins we are for sure #1 over a Wisconsin team who has 1 Top 25 win (Northwestern), which was at home and a terrible schedule beyond that win and the B1G Championship.
Michigan is their 2nd best win so far and that game was also played in Maddison.

Nah, Ohio St might be without Barrett, and possibly their Def. Coach, if they fire Schiano for taking another job. A win over OSU probably isn"t moving them up far at all. I think they're at best the #4.

If AU and OU win I think we get Wisconsin in the Sugar, with us the #1 seed.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think you’re right... a Wisconsin win puts them at 4

Nov 26, 2017, 11:49 PM [ in reply to Re: anyone else think the Rose is likely off the table? ]

#1 gets them if they win

Wisky will be either 2 or 3 to get them to Rose Bowl. Unless by some logic by the committee OU winds up 1 then Wisky will be 4. B1G to Rose Bowl works for everybody.

Personally would love to see the Tigers play just once in the historic Rose Bowl--would be a cool setting. NO is a good trip too...just rather go to LA than NO. However, probably better for team to have short trip

The planets have to align just right for Rose Bowl***

Yes.

Auburn vs. Wisconsin/Ohio State winner in the Rose;
Clemson vs. Oklahoma in the Sugar.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No. 1 seed gets their preference, right? Of course, Dabo

Nov 27, 2017, 9:16 AM

would be crazy to pick the Rose over the Sugar, but if we are Number 1, choice is ours to make, is it not?

No. It was predetermined that 1/4 will play in the Sugar Bowl while 2/3 are in the Rose Bowl.

"When assigning teams to sites, the committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home-crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed."

No way ... they'd love to send Clemson out West

Nov 27, 2017, 10:36 AM

SEC team is a lock for the Sugar.

Oklahoma can easily jump Clemson if they trounce TCU
