Glad to see excitement about kickers and special teams. Clemson has sent its fair share of kickers to the pros. Also with the great education, CU should sell itself. Best of luck to this young man.

Just remember Cat-man hitting that kick vs LSU.

The most important kick in the history of Tiger football if you ask me. No disrespect Mr. Treadwell.

Cat-man was the man. I started celebrating before the spotted the ball because I knew that was a chip shot for him.

Please do not offer this kid a scholarship. This 2018 class is insanely talented, but Clemson has very little spots available. If we are only going to sign 10-12 kids, why waste one of those spots on a kicker? Catanzaro and Huegel were both walk-ons that earned a scholly. Spence and Lakip were both given scholarships out of high school, and look how they turned out. Clemson needs to use the available spots for real athletes, not kickers.

Kickers WIN games!! Not so long ago, our kicking game was so atrocious they sent out a memo to the Student Body for open auditions! Danny used to get Soccer players to come and play football as kickers! Gotta kick it through the End Zone EVERY time!!! Scholarship for a kicker?? He$$ YES!!

Sure, when there's 20 available scholarships to give out. Clemson doesn't have that luxury because we only have 10 spots available. Alex Spence and Greg Huegel are both juniors. Why give a scholarship to another kicker when you already have two on your roster? Does Clemson really need 3 kickers on their roster with a scholarship? Alex Spence and Ammon Lakip are perfect examples of why you don't give out scholarships to kickers. Catanzaro and Huegel were walk-ons, and both are substantially better than the kickers that received scholarships straight out of high school. Plus, Dabo is awarding the new punter a scholarship. So, giving this kid a scholarship out of high school would mean that we would have 4 kickers/punters on the team. That is incredibly stupid. Save a scholarship for the 2019 class, when we are going to have 20+ spots available.

Dude, read the article!

It clearly states that this is a grey shirt offer this year, with a chance at a 2019 scholarship.

Let's keep in mind that the kickers in high school are almost always kicking off a 1 or 2 inch tee that makes the ball go higher and farther. College kickers only kick FGs off the ground. Making the transition to kicking off the ground is harder for some than for others. This is where some very good high school kickers don't make the transition as well as expected. Huegel was kicking off the ground for 3 years in high school. I see that he made a 51 yard FG off the ground in high school. The other thing to mention is that the balls are bigger in high school... makes aiming the ball easier. Different NCAA schools use different sized balls. Clemson has used the smallest allowable sized ball over the past few years. The NFL uses a bigger ball than we have. I would love to see someone kick it out of the endzone everytime but just because they could do it high school doesn't mean they could do it with a small ball for us. It would be nice if we all had the same sized balls across colleges.

Your are kidding right?
Kicker one of the most important players on the team.

We would have won back to back Nattys if we had been able to kickoff in the end zone

I'm not kidding. Clemson has 10 spots available in this class, and this is one of the most talented classes in recent years. Clemson already has 5 commits, which is half the class so far. If we only have a chance to sign 5 more players, why waste one of those spots on a kicker? Especially considering the fact that we already have 2 scholarship kickers, plus a punter, on the roster? That's simply stupid. But, we are going to have over 20 spots available for the 2019 class. If we really wanted a kicker that badly, why not wait another year? Catanzaro is the best kicker in school history, and he was a walk-on. Greg Huegel was a walk on that beat out Ammon Lakip and Alex Spence, who were both guys that received scholarships. We have found better kickers off the streets.

You really should consider going back to non-poster. 0 points? No clue of what a gray shirt means?

Hey it's worth something just to tighten up the South Pointe-Clemson connection. We missed Gilmore, Holman, and Clowney because of the coaching change. Let's fix the pipeline! DK and BT would be a great start!
