This is one of the most interesting conference changes to watch this year. According to a few projections they're projected to win around 9 or 10 games this season but with the loss of Teddy Bridgwater, I'm still skeptical.

Like him or not, Petrino is a hell of a coach.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would've felt much better with Strong still coaching.

Petrino is a great offensive mind and he's much more capable of coaching up a new starter and getting that offense humming by midseason than the previous staff.

And we'd better #### well be prepared. This game will not be a gimme'.

Louisville worries me more than Coots or Tarholes

Jul 10, 2014, 5:08 PM

because they're such an unknown commodity. New conference foe, new/old coach who's been good there in the past, several decent returning players...

They could easily win 10 games and they could easily win only 6.

I think they start well and then have a really bad November....lose against FSU, @BC, @ND and maybe UK.

One thing Bobby Petrino is bringing to the conference...

They have an elite quarterback. We don't. I love Cole Stoudt, but he's not a great athlete. He won't be starting after the first game or two.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ever hear of Deshaun Watson? I'd say he

Jul 11, 2014, 8:26 PM

qualifies as elite

Remember the good old days when WVU wasn't good enough...

Jul 11, 2014, 7:01 AM

...academically, to get into the ACC?

Lousiville is white hot right now but I can't help thinking that they are going to implode in a cloud of recrimination and scandal...particularly when they are making character choices like hiring Petrino back.

When all you want to do is win, you can do it...for a while.

They can't all be like Dabo but I couldn't be happier with where we are at as a program...and I hope basketball is headed to the same place.

Brownell isn't the same kind of dynamo as Dabo is but I believe in him and I think we are turning the corner. I don't know that we will be elite any time soon but I will take the top of the pack and in the conversation after where we have been?

So, sorry about the detour but...

Hurray for the good guys!

I dunno. Auburn has been more than toeing the line

Jul 11, 2014, 9:32 AM

for years now and they've somehow managed to avoid serious sanctions aside from the one incident way back in the early 90s.

Dunno where you're getting this. Strong ran a tight ship while he was here and Petrino's never been in any trouble with the NCAA.

The only issue we had recently was our APR score dropped below the requirement and we lost a few scholarships thanks to Kragthorpe because players were transferring out left and right but Strong turned that around in his first year.

It's also important to note that FSU was far from an academic powerhouse when they joined the ACC but they've made some tremendous strides the last few decades. With the amount of money Louisville's been pouring into its campus it's not difficult to see the same thing happen here.
