Nebraska: Microcosm Of ESPN Hype Gone Wrong!

Oct 27, 2019, 12:41 AM

The way Nebraska ended 2018 is what they will tell you. But, the writers and analyst out there actually had Nebraska ranked high in some polls. They were an Ohio State "big game"! I think Herbstreit and the crew did that game.
The same people who seem to drop Clemson when Clemson wins are the same "non-smarts" who had Nebraska as a contender!
These folks care more about story lines than they do "actual football"! They fell in love with the story of former player who won Heisman going to alma matter and turning the program around. They were so impatient they prematurely anointed Nebraska "a contender"!

Just like they were wrong about Nebraska they are wrong about Clemson. Clemson unlike some of the other teams is hitting it's stride. Great story or not. Like it or not.

The people who get all their info off ESPN need to really look back at the accuracy and start questioning the data. Question the legitimacy of the information for a change. It would help you see the SEC bias and to a lesser degree Big 10 as well. I don't care that a school will attract more eyes to the TV or not. If they can't execute/block/tackle as well as Clemson they should not be getting ranked ahead, period.

Where is Nebraska ranked as of October 27, 2019? What's their record experts? Did they win today? If they lost was it some "great opponent in a nail biter"?

Comparable to the butch jones brick by brick crap that we watched for like 5 years at Tennessee?

The entire media was all in on Nebraska

Them and Texas were two of the most obvious overrated teams coming into the season.

From a business standpoint, it makes sense to inaccurately hype some teams up. It makes for good television when a highly ranked team loses and it brings more people to visit their website and Facebook page to tell them how dumb they are. Either way, advertisers look at it as foot traffic and will pay top dollar to put their add in front of your face while you read watch ESPN. All the sports radio guys do the same thing. If you aren’t talking about them, good or bad, then they aren’t doing their job.

It's laughable how they are though. Zero shame.

Clemson beats the best team in college football history - so called b/c this team went through the "alleged" best conference by an average of 29.1 ppg. Clemson then starts the season with no losses; yet is behind the remnants of the best team and it's understudy in the polls.

Same shameless people! SMH and laughing at them.

Do any of you think "it's Clemson fatigue"?

Oct 27, 2019, 12:46 PM

They never tire of Alabama it seems. The rest of the nation has gotten SEC fatigue; but Bama seems to have gotten a pass.
Is any of this just b/c they are simply tired of seeing the Tigers in the mix you think? Or is it just propaganda? Or do they hold Clemson to a much higher standard?
