Since nabbing him from App State NC Stats has been consistently been putting out very solids offensive lines with mutiple draft picks and all American candidate players w capabilities of only mediocre recruiting as a school capabilities. Very undervalued coach and first person I’d call if Caldwell decides to retire in a few years.

I remember one of our d lineman from a couple of years ago told me the team he hated playing most was State. He said their line was always tough and got after your ###.

Austin has proven zip. I'd like to see him do what Dustin Fry did - go out and coach elsewhere, and boost his CV at places like SMU and then Arkansas before I elevated him.
Dustin Fry, I suspect, would be ahead of Austin on the wish list just because of the experience he has.
The first thing I would do, though, is give Sam Pittman at UGA a call and see if he's interested. His OL there with the Dawgs is by a mile the thing that's driving that UGA train, and he's one of the top recruiters anywhere (though, I will admit, he has probably had some, uhm, help.) But high school coaches who know Pittman say he is absolutely the real deal.

Dabo assesses the whole body of work...experience does matter, as well as intangibles he views that, perhaps, most other coaches don't.

disagree on austin "not having proved anything". this is his 4th year on staff. think that is ample time for Dabo to get a read on him and his abilities. now that read may be he IS the man or ISN'T the man when caldwell retires. History tells us Dabo will make a pretty good call.
