My take on the "Watson doesn't know the playbook" logic...

Sep 1, 2014, 8:18 AM

If the handful of plays he does know and execute well works plus Watson's escapability, and the whole playbook that Cole knows doesn't, would't Watson give us the best chance to win? Then continue to work on his knowledge of the playbook every week?

(Yes, I realize it is one game for both of them. Just playing devil's advocate)

Funny you bring up this post

as I have said for a year now (w/ CS)

It doesn't matter if you know the play book. If you
can't execute it, it means absolutely nothing.

Even Bama coaches said, with their new QB- they had to
simplify things and let him go out and do his thing.

Bring on DW.

I would imagine you will see a lot of him this Saturday, because of the opponent. We'll see how much of the play book he really has down. Interested to see how he checks
through his reads and look offs!

Thought coaches said he has gotten up to speed

fast with the playbook. Not that he knows it as well as Stoudt because some things come with experience and being on the field scoping defenses. But it seems to me he isn't all that behind.

I'm guessing Stoudt will start the next two games, but I expect to see Watson even more against SC State and then against FSU. After that game, the QB question may be resolved for the rest of the season.

a Dawg agrees

I agree with Norther Tiger. From a Dawg's perspective, Watson scared the mess out of me. I was glad he stayed on the bench most of the game.

Even if they just hiked him the ball and let him find some running room he would have been a threat. And after he does that a few times, then he could pass it all day long. I think the sooner he takes over, the better you'll be.

Good luck the rest of the way!
