After last year the voters showed they are not interested in character at all. It has become just a statistics race. This year appears to be more of the same.

This is like looking at how we lost to instead of who we beat.

The question isn't "What's wrong with LJ's character?", which I would agree, the answer is "Nothing."
From the Heisman Committee's website:
"The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity."
Emphasis added.
So, if you look at character as a criteria to weed out candidates ("he's awesome...has he done anything bad?"), Lamar passes the test. If you look for someone who BEST exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity, I have a hard time thinking DW wouldn't get the vote.

Lamar's character may not be bad, but what has he done

to show he has exemplary character, leadership and academics like Watson? According to the Heisman guidelines, it is supposed to be more just a "stat" award. Character and leadership should be important!

when they give the trophy to mayfail it will cement the devaluation of a once prestigious award. I have no respect for the trophy, the "award" or the voters who turned it in to a bad boy stat recognition and determined the winner so prematurely it eliminated all true competition.
And that's all I got to say about that...
Go Tigers!!!

I didn't even know it was this week. Dabo said it perfectly, "Deshuan didn't miss out on the Heisman. The Heisman missed out on having his name attached to it!!!!"

Anything voted on a large scale by the masses is often incorrect or questionable due to fact that the individual voting doesnt have enough information, the time to research, etc.
This is true for politics, sports press and coaches voting, and for the Heisman.

The Heisman should amend their criteria to include what they actually look for - sportscenter highlights. They had two opportunities to award it to the perfect candidate based on their stated criteria. Watson was the best college football player on the field and performed just as equally off the field. But the Heisman let ESPNs highlights of Jackson from September decide it for them. It became inconsequential last year.
