My guess with Brownell

Feb 11, 2020, 6:18 AM

Is that next year, we have to make the tourney. They really like him and want to give him every possible chance. There have been a lot if injuries this year and that has def hurt. People are already praising next years team with the kids coming in and returning talent. My guess is that he will get one opportunity to put that team in the dance. If not, I think it is really hard to make a case for him staying past next year.

I think he has some good kids coming in but freshmen are inconsistent. Even the good ones

Unfortunately that magnificent class we have coming in is ranked 8th in the conference for next year. There are 14 higher rated players than our highest rated signee coming into the conference, going to 6 different schools. Of course that doesn't always translate to exact parrallel success, but there is little indication that the team will be anything better than middle of the pack or lower considering our current lineup compared to the rest of the conference and our lack of quality coaching. The odds of a NCAA tourney berth next year are extremely low, so the best we can reasonably expect of maybe a NIT appearance and finishing slightly above 0.500 will be considered great progress by a coach only in year 11 of his tenure at a school.

The pumpers you are hearing speaking so highly of next year right now will be tempering expectations as soon as this season is over of course.

You guys are both right;

CBB deserves one more year based on injuries and beating the heels in chapel hole.

Next year’s team need to finish in the top half of the league or he is out the door. JMO

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!
