If Louisville can keep Strong as coach

Dec 28, 2013, 9:01 PM

...there is no reason why they couldn't be in the top 3 in the ACC.

Nope. Middle of the pack once Bridgewater leaves***

Middle of the pack once

Dec 28, 2013, 9:05 PM

Miami gets it's crap together and starts keeping the south Florida talent in South Florida and not Louisville.

Miami needs a new coach. I'm not sold on Golden being that good. Maybe they should go after strong...

My doubts about Louisville

Dec 28, 2013, 10:30 PM

is how much their talent level goes down with more stringent academic requirements of the ACC. Look what happened to Miami and the two schools have the same recruiting base. No Rhodes Scholars there.

The ACC doesn't have any different requirements than any other conference. The NCAA has a minimum not the conference.

Although each school establishes their own requirements

Dec 28, 2013, 10:46 PM

all must conform to the NCAA minimums. Clemson has a committee which determines how each recruit will probably fare taking a Clemson academic regimen based on factors such as their educational background, SAT scores, etc and have in the past denied admission to athletic recruits who were otherwise acceptable.

But unc has burst the bubble on any sort of academic standards ACC schools might claim. Its the worst academic scandal to hit the NCAA in a long, long time (if ever) and the NCAA did practically nothing to punish them.

UNC is making their case for a spot

In the seCHEAT. Showing they can cheat, in a major way, and get away with it.

He won't go there, they had there opportunity to hire him...

Dec 28, 2013, 11:46 PM

when they hired Spurrier. There is no way they have a chance with Charlie Strong. If he turned down UT with all their history and resources, why would he go to SCU? Strong is going to stay at Louisville as long as Louisville wants him. There were a lot of SEC teams that passed on him for the simple reason he is black, rather than hiring him for his coaching abilities. Strong's rejection of UT and later statements thanking Louisville for the opportunity, was a strong message to SEC teams that they missed out when they had their opportunity.

If he turned down UT

he won't go to Scar.

UT's facilities rival Alabama's.

Miami with a top 5 recruiting class coming in

Dec 28, 2013, 11:39 PM

Recruiting isn't the problem there. I think it is a discipline issue.

as in disciplined play and effort.***

Lousiville actually has a fair bit of resources themselves

Dec 28, 2013, 11:50 PM

Got all that Pizza money. Believe they are a top 15 earning school. Strong may want to see how far he can build up that program. Seems like a pretty good coach to me.
