Living here in SEC country (Knoxville) and having attended several SEC games including the Mississippi State vs. Kentucky football game this year in Starkville, my observations are that the schools with that fanbases that are most likely to waive the SEC banner are the ones with little tradition or historical success of their own (I put Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Kentucky, South Carolina, Arkansas and, to a certain level, Tennessee and Ole Miss). And, of course, the two newest SEC members are extremely loyal to the conference for the privilege of being "rescued" from the Big 12 and the much bigger paycheck.
I was stunned to see, in Starkville, almost as many SEC logos as I saw Mississippi State logos on their merchandise and around town.
Schools like LSU - with tradition and recent historical success - don't have to pull for the SEC to get their national validation of their football programs. Almost every Auburn fan I know is pulling for Clemson, as are most of the Tennessee fans, most likely because those two schools, along with LSU, have the most heated historical rivalries with Alabama and go head to head in recruiting with Bama and would prefer for Bama's last championship to not be this one.
That LSU vs. Alabama rivalry is a very heated one; if I remember correctly, the Bayou Bengals lost an incredibly high number of consecutive home games against the Tide before they finally won at home recently.

I could care less about other sec teams. I only worry about my school and that it. But there sure are sec homers though, I just can't see myself cheering for a conference foe

drum come here and wish us luck. Seems to me that LSU has always been different than the rest of the SEC in that y'all march to the beat of your own drum.
We mostly have to deal with the dirtpeckers BS...but then again all the USeC Gamecoots have going for them is the SEC moniker...and wimmin's BB.

Thank goodness that I don't have to pull for Miami, UNC, Syracuse or FSU. I hate all of them. Oh well, that's the life of a gamecoot, they have to pull for other teams if they want to win!

And my brother met his wife in grad school at LSU. I even have an LSU hoodie. I try to pull for the Bayou Bengals, but honestly I am not always able to pull it off successfully. But ALWAYS over BAMA and SCAR.

I'm glad to see your not one of those LSU fans that sat around me in the Chick-Fil-A bowl a few years ago. They talked about the mighty SEC for the first 58 minutes of the game. Then all of a sudden they were gone when it looked like LSU would lose. the 4th down conversion finished them off. I'm as big a fan as anyone else and living in the middle of SEC country I get tired of the SEC BS. They did great in bowl games this year. Well all we ever heard from them in the past when the lost is well they didn't want to be there. Why was this year any different than previous years? I say they had a great bowl season and good for them but I'm not buying the BS on not interested. Go Tigers

I was at that game and was surrounded by some really cool Clemson fans. We both were cheering loud and proud for our teams and had some fun, but we also respected each other and shook hands after the game. Also went out for some beer with your fans as well after the game. Yea it was awkward at first being the only lsu fan in the bar but I had fun with you guys. Lol
