My biggest issue with the sec homerism is this:

Each year they get placed preseason with 8-9 in the top 25. Then if 3-4 are in the top 10, then when auburn beats Washington you’re thinking, wow that legitimizes our rankings. Auburn must be really good. And lsu, 5-0 they must really be amazing. Alabama is good and deserve to be the number one team in the country and as much as I hate to give them credit Georgia has done nothing to deserve to be less than we are. But auburn proving they aren’t top 10 material last night and LSU falling. Reminder year after year how little we know about each team until they’ve played some football. Alabama has destroyed every team they’ve played. There is no doubting that. But look at who they’ve played: Arkansas state, Louisiana Lafayette, Louisville (who I admire them for scheduling bc they didn’t suck when they scheduled), ole miss, Arkansas, and Texas a and m. That last game is their best win and they played them at home. That’s likely our best win to and we played on the road. Again, my point is you just don’t know a whole lot about these teams because they get hyped so much in the preseason and it carries some momentum until things play out. We will be fine bc undefeated will continue to dwindle. Win out and we are in 100%. Lose one and unfortunately we are at the mercy of what other teams do. I don’t like our chances vs bama in the first six games of the year. But I do like our chances at the end of the year because of depth. Our secondary has to get better. And hope our oline continues to do well. TL should just keep gathering experience and confidence. We will be a much different team at 13-0 than we were at 3-0.

Well stated as usual. You left out the b1g too. Every year it’s the same thing. ND gets that advantage since a lot of the games are against b1g. And you’re right, every year we find out that those top ten matchups in September didn’t pan out. Hopefully Duke can be ranked but they’ll have a hard time getting any respect. NC State could give us more cred.

Secondary-wise, keep an eye on Mario Goodrich and Kyler McMichael. I believe they will a force later in the season.

Yes! That is what I’m talking about, Dabo develops his players during the season.

Unlike the last ~4 years, the SEC is actually as good

as their reputation this year IMO.
I don't like it when SEC teams beat other inflated SEC teams early in the year which then boosts them way up in rankings and public perception, but this year Auburn beat arguably the best Pac 12 team in Washington and LSU thumped arguably the 2nd best SEC team in Miami. A&M good a big boost from narrowly losing to Clemson. Those teams largely for their boosts from non-conference games and i can't fault that.

legitimate top 25 teams in Bama, UGA, LSU, A&M, and UK with UF, Auburn, and MSU on the fringe or somewhere between 20 and 30.

exactly.......SEC has only two teams (Bama & Georgia) and ACC has only one team (Clemson).......AP poll indicates there are still 8 SEC teams and 3 ACC teams ranked......which is total BS.......with the exception of the 3 teams listed above, there are no teams in the ACC or SEC which are very good.....but somehow there are still 8 teams ranked in the SEC because of all this SEC bias we see year after year.........our strength of schedule does not allow us to lose a game because of this crap while you can lose 2 games in SEC and still possibly make it to the playoffs when these ranked SEC teams they are beating are not very good and should not be ranked anyway.......ever noticed when two ranked SEC teams play and one loses the losing team does not typically drop very much (look at LSU vs Florida this weekend) but the winning team bolts up the rankings.....while two ranked ACC teams play with the loser typically dropping out of the rankings and the winner typically moving up very minimal (if at all) in the rankings.......you take out the three teams listed above and the other teams in the SEC or ACC are average at best........but polls do not reflect that do they......Go Tigers!!!!!
