Clemson-UGA Prediction

Posted: Aug 31, 2013 1:49 AM

In putting together our prediction, the deciding factor was Georgia's ability to run the ball and play keep away from our offense.

Someone - please tell me I'm wrong - and why...

I am more worried about their passing than the run, just given our problems in secondary last year.

This game is a toss up, we probably have slight edge b/t it is at home. I just hope the defense has improved so we aren't always relying on tons of scoring to win this year.

OK, You are wrong and I didn't even open link

Murray is sloppy and error-prone

I don't think they're going to keep it away from us, and I do think our D is going to get enough stops to win. I also think Murray turns it over at least once.

Also, UGA was terrible against the run last year, and they're not likely to be better in game 1 with so much inexperience. They're going to get their yards against us probably, but I expect enough stops to get let us dictate the pace for the most part.

including South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida.
However, he tends to carve up less than superior defenses.
No offense, but while I see Clemson defense as solid, it's not in the class of defenses that have given Murray trouble in the past.
In 2011, Murray had trouble against Boise, Florida, LSU and South Carolina.

If our secondary comes to play we are in business. NO one knows how our special teams will be. GHop is back there and that kid flat out FLIES. so if he can give us a spark in that category who knows. IF our DLine plays as well as it did against LSU I am not really worried about the running game. the only guy we lost off the dline was Goodman. all the other guys are back one year smarter and stronger. Line backers have another year under their belts and we are healthy. Steward, Jones, Anthony, Christian, and Shuey with some freshmen like Boulware. our big question is our secondary. can they make plays when we need them. With Blanks at his real position he can free roam and ball hawk. and with Kearse back there and dont forget we have our cb's back healthy for now. and some other freshmen to contribute. I give the nod to us on the front seven and an even wash in the secondary due to most of our guys being hurt last year. Offensively we can score points and if the defense gives us more opportunities to score we will run 100 plays and it will be a repeat of the CFA bowl. but only thing is the Georgia defense is NO where as good as that LSU defense and we will put up bookoo points on them. But i think it will be a close game going into half time 21-14 Clemson and we come out the second half and blow it open and win 42-28..

Good analysis and prediction - thanks!***

Well done.

I only watched Clemson during the Chick Fil A Bowl, and was impressed at your ability to hang tough to the end and prevail. I don't know who you've got coming back, so I can't discuss Clemson much.

UGA's defense wasn't as spectacular as everybody said last year. They gave up a ton of rushing yards. They were very good at rushing the passer, however. That's what Jarvis Jones and Alex Ogletree did.

If UGA's offense plays up to its potential, they have the ability to put up a lot of points on anyone, anywhere. If they get in a groove, it will be tough for Clemson to keep up. They've brought everyone back, including TE Michael Bennett, from an injury. However, if they choke, a UGA tradition, who knows? Given all the factors and emotion, it should be a close game.

Re: Michael Bennett is a wide receiver, not a tight end.

I know it's a minor detail, but it's like referring to Marshall as a fullback or something.
