Michigan helmet image...wolverines?

Always wondered what inspired Michigan's helmet design. Turns out it's a Spalding design that other colleges used back in the day. Michigan was the only college to continue to use the "winged helmet" when composite helmets came out. I never saw the "wings" in the pattern until now. Thought it was some sort of horn thingy maybe having to do with a wolverine skull... Lol
