Miami red zone offensive woes......wow!

Nov 14, 2017, 10:57 PM

Miami ranks 93rd in the FBS in red zone touchdown percentage (56 percent) and 120th in goal-to-go TD percentage (57 percent), just below winless Georgia Southern (60 percent), according to ESPN Stats & Info.

And the coots think Miami should be ranked ahead of us? Just lol

It's the one true weakness the Canes have, though things have gotten better as the season progresses. If they don't capitalize on trips inside the Red Zone more efficiently, they won't beat great teams like Clemson and whoever they'll face in the playoffs or bowl game, that's for sure.

They were 2 of 3 against VT with 2 TDs and one

turnover on downs, and then 6/6 against ND with 5 TDs and 1 FG. They did miss one FG, but it was from just outside the 20 and thus not a red zone possession (which is why red zone stats kind of suck).

The real question about Miami is what version do we get going forward? The one that kind of scuffled against inferior opponents for 7 games, or the one that just demolished two good to very good teams. The latter is absolutely good enough to beat us.

IMO though they will have a hard time matching that level of play when they hit the road again. That they had a great crowd and an electric atmosphere for those games, something they've lacked for years down there, but they will find a much different environment in Charlotte when 90% of the crowd is Tiger fans.
