they were spoiled with spurrier, he was literally the high water mark of that program. It will never be that good for them again, their best years are permanently behind them.

I agree 100%.
He's perfect for them.
He gives them what they deserve, and just a little bit that they don't. I hope he overachieves once every year while also losing to a G5. Let them go to Shreveport or Charlotte for an exciting postseason reward every year while Clemson goes to Glendale, New Orleans or Miami in a bad year.
Mus can talk all he wants about "playing against the best"; when your instate rival says "best is the standard", it's clear who he's referring to. Not the SEC.

Let’s hope the worm pullers aren’t too hasty. I think giving Muschamp at least a 10 year extension would show recruits that they are dedicated to stability. Seriously though, what coach would want to take the job? Just no upside to it.

My thoughts on Muschamp, in roughly chronological order. (Dating from back to his Florida days.)
1. He's a jerk. He is Spurrier without the personality. 2. He's a mediocre coach at best, and that is giving him the benefit of the doubt. 3. I saw him lose his cool and go completely ballistic on the sideline at Auburn as an assistant coach and thought to myself, "That is a fireable offense. No way would a head coach allow an assistant to get an unsportsmanlike penalty with the game on the line. If not this week, he's gone after this year." 4. Then, just a few weeks later he was hired at SC. My initial reaction was shock. "Is SC so bad that this is the only guy who will take the job?"
The only thing that has changed in my opinion of him since he got the SC job is he is even worse a coach than I gave him credit for.

to be a principled person with high ideals. I have no idea, and never had one, regarding what Muschamp's claim to fame was. He is just another fire breather who can take a few players and make them afraid to fail, which works for about a week and a half. If Mack could get them in, Will could browbeat them. Okay, fine. No one would buy that as a Head Coach resume', but we can thank our lucky stars - or just plain history - that SC did: its what they do.
My guess is that if Will lived next door one would find him to be a fine person, fun to be with. Would have him and his wife over for burgers often. He's smart, he wants the same things we all want, and he knows football. But that's not the same as being capable of interacting with 100 people as individuals. There are about 150-ish FBS programs, and probably about half that many people capable of doing that unique thing. Will is simply not one of them, and SC will likely never be able to attract one. I would say he's better than Kirby Smart, who seems to be a first class you-know-what.

I am in no way putting Elliott on the same level as Dabo...

but he is a lifelong coot who the kids loved. He is a players' coach. He has Dabo energy. The kids played hard for him when he was interim.
He would recruit well in the state and I think would at least keep them competitive on a regular basis. He loves SCar and understands the importance of the rivalry. He would at least be a thorn in our side.

Your opinion of Muschamp is much higher than mine.
I think someone like Spurrier or Bobby Knight would be a fun guy to spend a day fishing with. Both of them seem to have a sense of humor and at times can be a nice guy. The problem is, they just can't help but let the jerk inside come out. I haven't seen that with Muschamp. He just seems like a jerk all the time.
And, for further evidence, he and Jimbo - when they were both assistants - co-owned a condo in Florida (Destin, I think.) They used to vacation together every off season. When Muschamp got the job at Florida, they figured it would be best if they no longer did that. They sold it.

I think you are being hard on the chump. He's doing as well as almost anyone else that has been at UofSUK, they should extend his contract before another school comes after him. Really, who could turn that mess around in cootlumbia?

I think we should all band together and approach the legislature about giving him a lifetime contract as Coot HC. It would mean more coming from us.

Giving them so much false hope. It’s like providing welfare but putting the aid recipients in the top 5th percentile. And then dropping them back to reality. You know they won’t appreciate the good ole days, Bc they “deserve” It now.
