Mark it down...OHIO STATE will be 4, here's why
Dec 3, 2017, 9:00 AM

Look at the numbers
Strength of schedule Ohio state = 2 Alabama = 10
Wins over current top 10 teams Ohio State = 2 Alabama = 0
Record with over FPI top 40 Ohio State 4-1 Alabama 3-1
Conference Championships Ohio state = 1 Alabama = 0
So here is the CFP Committees protocol (there is no order of importance) - Conference championship - Strength of Schedule - Head to Head Comparison (if occurred) - Common opponents outcomes (if occurred)
Only 2 of these things well be taking in to consideration because they're are no common opponents or head to head comparison. Ohio state has the higher SOS and the Big Ten championship.
Alabama's only argument is Ohio State's loss to Iowa. Very good argument and should be considered but that comes across as subjective. in order for the CFP to keep their credibility i believe they will just lean on the protocol because it is such a tough decision.
Bottom line... It will be Ohio State playing Clemson in the Sugar Bowl

I have a better reason: Politics

I absolutely believe that politics plays a factor in the deciding process.
I think Alabama should go in over Ohio State, but when they think about TV coverage and national interest, they will not let 3 of 4 teams that are about 1 gas tank driving distance away from each other to dominate the playoffs.
We all know the South owns college football, but they want Northern and west coast people to watch and I think that will play a factor in putting tOSU over Bama...
I am not saying it's right and the CFP people will deny it, but I think anytime they can "Fix" the selection to show representation from as many regions as possible..they will.

Sounds like fake news to me.
Alabama hasn't done jack squat. At least Ohio State has the metrics. What does Bama have? Nothing, that's what, dude.

I agree with yr analysis except I think there is one additional thing which ways in their favor(even though it technically should't). The BIG 10 commissioner is the most powerful man in sports and I think that will cause The BIG 10 team to get the benefit of the doubt. +1

Exactly. And I just watched Fineboob and Booger

talk about the committee citing this same stuff, then calling it "BS". Meanwhile him and Booger were trying to look "objectively" at Alabama and Ohio State, where Bama just looks like the better team. Funniest thing I've seen in awhile. Sitting at that TV stage talking about the difference between BS and being objective, meanwhile all they had for listeners was COMPLETE BS and nothing but homer subjectivity. It was hilarious, and they were absolutely trying to be serious.
You can't make this stuff up, folks.

With the limited number of spots.

There should never be two teams from the same division. I don't care what the records are. Oh St won their spot this year. Personally I would argue a case for Wisconsin over Bama getting in.Both had similarly weak schedules, but Wisconsin's lone loss came in their championship game.

First, you can’t look at last year period nor what Clemson did to them in the playoff. They didn’t #### on Penn State either and put OSU in over them. First You need to go back and actually look at OSU’s body of work last year. OSU had three wins against teams ranked in the top 10 of the CFP ranking, they had a top 10 SOS, their metrics were outstanding last year. Now go back and look at what the committee actually said and where they had thenteams ranked. The ? wasnt between P St and OSU, they already had OSU in ranked at #3 based on their overall body of work. The ? was who got the #4 spot . That was between P St and the Huskies. The Huskies got the nod over P St for the #4 ranking.

Of all the years for the SEC to get two team, this is definitely not the year! Heck, one could argue, despite last night's results, that Miami has a better resume than Bama...or OSU, for that matter. Of course, that's giving a LOT of credit for that poser program, the Domers of South Bend.

I am hoping Bama gets left out so that Saban starts making noise about it. Maybe they will start to think about increasing the number of playoff spots. I think 8 is the perfect number.

That is exactly what I came up with looking at the data. OSU is in. There is also a chance UGA goes to #1, but I don’t think so. Doesn’t matter if they do. I’m fine with the Rose ?? Bowl.
