Looks like another round of "free" money soon

Jul 24, 2020, 12:17 PM

Isn't fiat currency a grand thing! Just crank up the old press to toss Monopoly money at folks to appease them, sooner or later it is gonna bite us on the hind end badly.

At least a payroll tax holiday is not seemingly on the table, why would one want to stop funding SS/Medicare when the are already fast going broke? Hmm, maybe to hasten their demise?

Bad move in the long run IMO. Too much debt.

My sense is Trump is falling for the swamp-like mentality - buying votes. I hope it works.

I've tuned my expectations (pre-COVID) from a Trump win to a close loss to prevent a "mandate" for Biden and club AOC.

I think we have reached another fork in the road.

The choices are open businesses and let the chips fall where they may or continue to keep things shutdown and print money to keep people fat and patient. However, there is a third option, let chit happen. What chit? We don't know, we just do not know how bad things can get if we continue lockdowns, allow more and more businesses to close and millions more lose their jobs.

We don't know what will happen if we say screw it all just open every door and do business as usual.

Not playing whataboutism here, it was wrong then too dang it and you know it is wrong now. Why double down on stupid by doing it again? Go ahead break SS/Medicare , some folks are gonna need it,not me but some folks surely will.

Duh is about the best I can do for a response on how we fund SS. You do know that if money is not coming in ,which you also know is how it is funded, depeletes any reserves that much faster right? Right? The guise for raising payroll taxes, decreasing benefits and raising the age of full benefits will be on the fact it is broke right? SO what kind of voodoo economics do you think cuts funding while not doing anything to benefits does in the end? Good grief, it is basic math man. Spend more than taken in does what?
