Are there Democrat cars and Republican cars?

Sep 22, 2020, 7:57 PM

Do you have to prove you are a Democrat before you can buy a Subaru (any model) or a Prius? I don’t think I have ever known a Republican who drove either of those? Are there other vehicles that suggest affiliation with a particular political party?

If it matters, I drive an orange Toyota Tacoma.

And Trump sticker on it yesterday. I think you’re confusing political party with ##### size. Those of us with hang lows generally just drive whatever we like because we have nothing to prove. I’ve driven about 9 different cars in my time and they were all over the place. I guess if I ever need a vaguely off-road capable station wagon I might get a Subaru someday.

they are the most reliable cars on the market. I will probably go with an outback for the next one. The Idea is it will tow my boat that I have not gotten yet.

aspirational future car purchase w/ rationale is good.

positive long term thinking in these days is a plus.

once you get in the 75-90k mile range, it's just one $500 repair after another. Water pump, power steering pump, oil pump, differentials, CV joints.......They've perfected building them to be fantastic until just after the warranty expires, but somehow convincing people that they're the equivalent of a 1985 Mercedes Diesel in build quality.

actually looking for something to take offshore to fish the reefs. I could not believe the price difference between a top of the line Bass Boat and an entry level skiff capable of going offshore. A 50k boat is entry level.

Subaru as much a democrat car as I do a hippie car(though 90% of hippies are dems.)

A Prius or Smartcar screams lib. A Jeep screams conserve. A Ford F-250 no longer has the NRA sticker as an option as it is now standard.

I'd guess there is a statistically significant correlation between party affiliation and make of car.

My neighbor has two Priuses (what is plural of Prius, Priui?) and he's a huge conservative. But, he's also Jewish, so maybe that explains the cars.
