those random creases you get in knit collars of polo shirts.

May 16, 2018, 8:45 AM

I hate them. Got a nice Orvis shirt, wore it and washed it once, now it has a crease in it. It's like somebody sneaks in, irons a permanent crease in it, and throws it back in the dryer. I prefer the gentle rollover of my polo collars. Polo Ralph Lauren seems to do it the least. What causes that anyways?

May 16, 2018, 8:54 AM

polo.

What ticks me off are dress shirts. Decades ago dress shirts were thicker. If you added a decent starching at the dry cleaners, they stayed wrinkle free all day.

But these dress shirts today are WAY too thin. Even the more expensive dress shirts are made of thin material. I tell them to starch the ever living #### out of them, and they're still wrinkled before lunchtime. I remember in high school I could wear a dress shirt 3 times to church before it was too wrinkled. I don't even get to the sermon today without it being too wrinkled to wear again.

My WORST peeve about polo shirts, and most knit shirts, is when that drop of burger grease falls and hits the shirt right on your gut. At that point you can chunk the shirt because that grease stain will NEVER come out. I have some cheap, Sam's microfiber khaki pants that are freaking awesome. They do not wrinkle. I can wear them right out of the dryer, and they do not stain.

Eliminate the need for a dry cleaner, and they’re much thicker than most shirts.

May 16, 2018, 11:00 AM

the 'usuals' generally consist of where SheGUAR shops, as I generally don't care to shop for work clothes

Banana Republic - non-irons are great, until the left elbow gives out. They're moving more and more towards full-out 'slim fit' (which I.Am.Not.) in store, which only leaves few selections to choose from

Brooks Bros - not bad, pricier...also a tad 'blouse-ier'

J Crew - can't do it, have only found one non-flannel shirt that can contain these gunz. Their heavy-duty flannels are great cold weather shirts (a little on the short side, tho)...but not for an office environment

Gap - same deal, I'd accidentally @Lakebum1® them the second I bent my arm, and BEWM, sleaveless.

I wouldn't mind trying the Untuckd shirts...except you're looked upon as lepers here if you're not tucked

I wear JCrew ones typically but that is because I bought them 10 years ago and still wear them. They are all too short and i have to roll up the sleeves (White People, lulz). They all need ironing so I just put one in the dryer and pray I dont have an important meeting.

Overton.

MH Frank, Dumas in Charleston, The Men's Shop in York (RIP) and numerous other fine Southern men's clothiers will white label the Overton brand shirts and I have never once had a complaint as to the quality of their shirts. Nice thick shirts that don't wrinkle and resist staining as well as any I've ever owned.
