Some of you thought, including myself, that LSU would take a step back this year. After looking at their roster i don't see them going anywhere for a while. Bama better be really worried as well as the rest of the SEC. These guys have some serious talent on the roster. That being said it will all depend on who they get to run the offense and defense. Guess we will find out in a few months!

They won't have the hottest QB for 15 straight games pulling the trigger. They will be good but won't beat Bama next season.

Burrow could move and escape. New QB could be a statue and if not definitely won’t be as talented as Burrow, and good luck blocking Bresee and company.

New QB is a Statue? Are you nukkin futz?

Nobody remembers Clemson offering Myles Brennan a scholarship?

It’s like ... whoops, he didn’t choose us so he’s gotta suck???

Please don’t believe me, look up the career HS yardage for Brennan and Lawrence in that same year they came out.

One has over 15,000 yards passing and it ain’t Trevor Lawrence. Myles Brennan is 6-6, 220 now with speed similar to Burrow and has a 70-75 yard long toss range and a stronger arm than Burrow who had a 50 yard range with his small hands.

Can Trevor chuck a rock 75 yards? You are dismissed from Serious Football Discussion

Jeez, the short term memories in you guys!
Look it up 247 sports ...

Clemson offered Brennan! Sour Grapes are for Stupid Apes, not Intelli-Tigers!!!

LSU put a 50 Point beat down on us in that game! First and 10 at the 13, that little bowlin ball ran over our gassed defense for 9 yards to the four yard line!

1:30+ ... Second and one at our four ... The pride of Venables Ferocious Dee gassed with hands on their hips just waiting for that big OL to knock the crap out of them again for an easy 4-yard TD to make it 48-25 ... A Nick Saban would have run him again to make it 50.

Orgeron, a class act, had Burrow take a knee at the four!

Don’t nobody gotta tell me we ain’t had the living #### beat out of us! Anybody with any sense whatsoever saw Lawrence beat down in that game. If Brennan is 80% of Burrow, they will beat us again and you can mark that.

But I’m looking at Georgia to take LSU down.
Georgia gonna be seriously badazz this year.

Don’t hate the Playa, I make big $$$ betting on these games ...

Wanna see 80% ATS in 2020, watch Norbit chew em up and spit out those winners every week ...

Norbit’s Weekly Locks in 2020 ...

So he'll be a fifth year senior with a year

LSU is loaded every year...you only get a Burrow at LSU once in a lifetime...for years LSU couldn't sniff a good QB's shoes...even when they have a championship caliber coach they fall in the dust on most years...they'll be lucky to be 8-3 and when all the smoke clears (much of which we don't know about yet) they may be in deep doodoo! Some of you LSU loving idiots need to look back at LSU vs. Bama with Burrow in 2018 and savor that score...remember O310 to Yuma or Scottsdale as the case may be...geaux Tigers...but where do they go!

Kind of an arrogant post for a team that has not been a top competitor for several years. One successful season does not set a standard of excellence. Let’s see what LSU does over the next several years. I will be honest with you. LSU at times during the game played dirty. It appeared that your defense was targeting our QB, RB and WR’s Tee Higgins and Justin Ross.

That’s not why Clemson lost. LSU was the better team that night.

No one will catch that lightning... ever. That’s not saying much. We have a new coach now. New offensive mindset. The Les Miles era of 1970s offense is gone. I know you hate it, but LSU ain’t going anywhere.

The 2 most successful schools of the BCS/CFP era, LSU and Bama are 3-1 and 5-2, respectively. And that’s in the SEC. Isn’t Clemson 2-2? Yikes.

LSU is not one of the two most successful schools of any era. The two of CFP is Bama and Clemson. BCS would be (not looking up records) the real USC and either Bama,OSU, or Miami. Oh btw a two loss national champ is not a bragging point.

Myles Brennan, Holds the Mississippi high school career records for total offense (16,168 yards), passing touchdowns (166) and passing yards (15,138) ... Completed 275-of-399 passes for 3,982 yards with 48 touchdowns and only three interceptions as senior ... Did not record an interception until the postseason of his senior campaign

NO ONE will be Burreaux. He was the best college QB ever. But Myles is very impressive.

Most of all it depends on if the NCAA has the whole team drug tested...60% gone right away...the others retested with the doctors prescription that the AD just found, along with the guy passing out $100 bills...Once heard of a high school team in Texas where the spot testing is required on a regular basis...they tested the same dudes 5 times during the season and only one was a starter! But you know it was random...test the whole team, mascot, cheerleaders, coaches and all athletic personnel!

The fact is Clemson does not play in the SEC. Your #### poor schedule is why you get so many chances for a title.

Play Fla, Bama, Auburn, TX AM, and possibly Ga ever year. Clemson would have never gone 29-0.

Ehhh... don’t be so sure. If the new QB is even 70% of what Burrow was, they’re going to cause serious problems. Let’s also remember the new DC, Pellini was their DC in 2007 for that championship. That defense smoked Aranda’s from this year.

I’ve been saying not to take LSU lightly. Their issue has always been QB’s, but Miles is gone. They play in the SEC, so they’re bound to get 1-2 losses, but I’d be surprised if it were more. I think they split Bama and Auburn, and lose to Florida.

Without Joe Burrow returning to QB the offense and Brady off to the Carolina Panthers, they won't be nearly the same.

And WR. Deon and Ray-Ray weren't nearly as tall or athletic as guys like Big Mike and Tay Scott.

Losing them in favor of Higgins/Ross was actually a net gain for the team. Kelly needed tall WR's so they could high point 50/50 throws. Also, it seemed like Deon and Ray-Ray weren't as invested in the team after winning the title in 2016. They were more interested in the league and didn't seem to give their all in multiple games.

Also what a lot of people forget is burrow was not only a 5th year senior but he also had hardly any classes. He spent nearly his whole time studying the opposing team. Most QBs have a full schedule and don’t have time to he was allowed to spend studying film.
I just truly believe Joe was the key to them being elite. The next QB will be decent but no burrow. Even if they beat Bama and make playoffs I feel good about our chances.

My only concern is what team will come out of Nowhere in 2020 and surprise everyone one like LSU and OSU did in 2019?

LSU will always be competitive..... look forward to our home and home series in 2025 and 2026. They are a good team, have a great program and will always be loaded with talent. So is Clemson. To make it through a season, you need a lot of hard work, talented players, good coaches, minimal injuries and a little bit of luck. There are always 8-10 programs that have consistently been there over the last decade and LSU is one of them. Let them enjoy their national championship, our guys are going back to work to make this year's Tigers the best version of themselves.

Win the opener.
Win the division
Win the state championship
Win the conference
Win the last game.

They don't put rings on smooth fingers. It's what you do when the stadium is empty.... when the cheerleaders aren't dancing, when the band ain't playing.

National championships are won in the weight room and the film room.... and our guys and coaches know that.

Can not wait to renew my season tickets and get to the spring game to see this year's team.
Go Tigers !!!

Haha...

I forgot to cite Joey Batson. That is another amazing thing. His first year was under Tommy West in 96 or 97. I don't know the full story, but the previous Strength coach was Gary Wade. Gary stayed on the facilities staff at IPTAY after T West brought Joey in. To see a strength and conditioning coach stay at the same place over 20 years is unheard of. Plus, went from T West to T Bowden which ran totally different offenses and required a totally different strength and conditioning program.

Remember guys like Vinnie Circiru that was a FB under T West, ended up transferring to BC as a LB and playing in the NFL for ten years. When T Bowden came in, we lost most of our FB and TEs and a lot of good linemen like Corey Husley went early to the NFL. In 1999, we didn't have an O lineman over 300 lbs and didn't huddle once that year. I think the O line was TJ watkins (converted TE), will merritt, kyle young, theo mugros and akin smith.

And streeted was the QB with Woody backing him up. Remember a game when Streeter got hit and broke his collarbone, but didn't come out until after the next play when he scrambled and was hit out of bounds. Lost that year to Marshall with Chad Pennington in the last second, Mike Vick and VT in blacksburg on thurs night and missed a field goal to tie FSU the year of the first Bowden Bowl when Laverneous Coles and Peter Warrick were allowed to play after the Dillards scandal.

That was a long time ago.

And our tight ends were Pat Cyrgalis (coverted 5'10" FB), Jason LeMay and walk-on Morgan Woodard (who was about 5'8"). Morgan caught a TD pass in 2000 and before he crossed the goal line, he was hit and it spun his helmet around backwards. He made the cover of the Orange and White after that game with his helmet on back wards celebrating in the end zone.

LSU will not be as good as '19 because no team has ever been that good.

LSU takes a step back, loses much talent.

Also LSU plays 5 of the top ten recruiting teams next year while Clem plays NONE.

In the SEC a team must earn that appearance.

If Clem gave up their ACC BYE into The Playoffs by playing a schedule like LSU plays, Clem wouldn't live in The Playoffs.

LSU will be very good next year but very good isn't good enuf in the SEC.

This is where you are wrong. We have proven we can beat any team any time. You act like the SEC is the greatest ever. We have made many SEC teams look just like ACC teams. Just like the year we played Bama and Notre Dame. We were tested more by Syracuse. Yes you guys were better than us this year. Don't act like you are the premiere program in college football because you are not. We have been consistent year end and year out. You have not. You guys have talent but we will see what your new coaches can do with it consistently.

A lot will depend on the chemistry between the new coaches and between the new coaches and players. LSU often has enough talent to win the SEC, just not in all the right places like last year. LSU is always a tough out, but I think Bama and Saban have the edge in 2020.

They created lightening in a bottle, the perfect storm etc with Brady, a 5th year QB, and tons of experienced talent eating up offensive yards and defensive tackles. Most all of that is gone.

They will be rebuilding at best. A 3 or 4 loss season is far more likely than the flash in the pan that arose out of nowhere in 2019.

to 2016, Coach O was interim starting with game 5. In week 8 LSU lost to Bama 10-0. In 2017 LSU lost to Bama 24-10. The 2018 game was really hyped but Bama beat them 29-0. That is 63-10 the last 3 games. Compare that to what has been a factor in the few Bama losses during that same time; DW4 and TL16. You better have a great QB and passing game if you want to beat Bama. Since LSU has been a good talented program, the changed made for the 2020 season was a game changer. Only time will tell if that level of success is sustainable.

The talent has always been there since the les miles years. The difference has been modernizing the offense, getting a QB that can run it, and keeping Dave Aranda from jumping ship.

LSU doesn't win the sec next year, I have no doubt. This was a special season where everything came together. Losing Aranda was the biggest lost to me.

They are always loaded , but until the dream season and improbable pairing of Burrow and Brady , they'll typically underachieve and lose a game or two they probably shouldn't considering their talent level .

Just kind of illustrates how valuable a terrific QB and/or a great coordinator can be to a program . Like Boyd and Watson and now Trevor . . Or CBV .

Most see change of Offense in Sept 2019 but it really started on 1/1/19.

O ordered change to spread before the bowl game. Spread/RPO was installed, Joe threw for almost 400 yds as LSU ended the nation's longest win streak that day. THEN Joe Brady came in and made more changes but things has already started.

LSU will be loaded, Guido puts LSU in the running for NC. Down will be LB, OL and QB cannot be as good as it was.

DC Pelini is as good as it gets, would take him over Aranda or Venables. Expect change to more aggressive D, 4-3 instead of 3-4.

My ranking pre-season:

bama
Clem
OSU
UF
UGA
LSU

These are the teams with talent etc etc to win it all, in that order. Guido's ODDS won't be in that order because the SEC teams will beat up each other while OSU will win in easily and Clem gets the ACC BYE.

As for your top 6, I would flip Clemson and Bama, and drop Florida to the back if not off the list. Just like there was a big drop off after the top 3 this year, I think there will be a drop after 3 or 4 next year. Georgia lost a lot, but I think the new OC and QB could be an improvement.

Have no interest in what someone does when facing extemely inferior talent. Venables just got torched for 500+ yds and ~630 yds when playing the only two top ten teams he faced all year. Hard to be impressed with that, down the stretch Aranda did much better. How strong is it to hold a top O with the best QB prospect in the nation to only 1 3rd down conversion and no TD passes?

Having seen what all 3 can do, I'd rank them 1. Pelini, 2. Aranda, 3. Venables, then maybe 4. Grantham (UF). Steele was good this year but was based on 2 uber DL just as Venables last year had freaks in the DL which we won's see again soon. Steele at LSU was unimpressive. If they were still coaching D, Saban and Smart and Muschamp would be up there, note that bama's D went down after he left even with Saban still there.

Bo was amazing at LSU, clearly moreso than Aranda or anybody else after Saban/Muschamp.

We played a 3-4 because we lost our entire starting dline

Some of you thought, including myself, that LSU would take a step back this year. After looking at their roster i don't see them going anywhere for a while. Bama better be really worried as well as the rest of the SEC. These guys have some serious talent on the roster. That being said it will all depend on who they get to run the offense and defense. Guess we will find out in a few months!

Agree to disagree sir. They lost there QB and the guy who brought the offense to lsu. Also they should have some problems with eligibility since OBJ was handing out cash to real players but they might not since the guy from osu got 2 games for the “loan from a family friend.” Also not that they really played much D since it wasn’t needed but the D coordinator is gone as well. Sounds like more questions than answers to me.

LSU did play a bit of D recently, see the last game LSU played, look at the opponent's stats as compared to season stats.

Over the last 4 games the LSU D was in control. And Pelini is better.

Or maybe an LSU fan has plenty time and enjoys visiting other teams' boards, win or lose.

Maybe that fan never lies or talks down but instead tries hard to be respectful, using facts rather than insults.

Maybe that fan finds most boards have many more interested/accepting posters and a much lower frequency of insulting azzwholes.

Maybe that fan isn't the least bit concerned about opinions of him, has no problem with what others say.

And maybe that fan knows that the insults say much more about the person doing the insulting than it says about himself, and that most posters on the board recognize that even if they don't post about it.

But, let's not pretend that a lot of SEC teams are over-hyped by brainwashing and perception. It's easy to say you beat 5 or 6 top teams, blah blah blah. Your "LSU" season was remarkable, but perception gets all twisted with this stupid conference crap. Year after year, vomit spewed. The narrative only flows one way (in favor of the SEC). No one talked about how top 10 UF struggled with Miami (yes crappy Miami) last year because that's against the narrative (also #3 UGA losing to USC), and I am too lazy to try to think about the other games. The thing is, there are a few every year with every conference. UF was never a top ten team, UGA was not a top ten team. Yes, the media and voters make it that way. There were 3 teams at the top and in hindsight, there was only one team and then 2 really good teams. The one team was LSU. Now, I mentioned UGA and UF were not top ten, so you are probably thinking, well who should be. Well that is a great question, and the answer to me is well, it didn't really matter. Were UF and UGA a lot better than a lot of the ACC teams, yes. The point here is that it is sickening to keep mentioning the BS conference crap and when somehow a non-SEC team wins, the narrative then shifts to the fact that the SEC is beat up. I mean come on, people sound like a bunch of pre-schoolers. Whenever I hear crap about the SEC this and that, in my mind I picture a bunch of gullible/brainwashed imbeciles spewing from a CULT.

Also, perception is skewed by somewhat

subjective rankings. I mean, it is hard to drop when every team is ranked so high whether or not those teams really deserve to be ranked where they are. So, when a team wins, that team is bolstered and the losing team is also bolstered because well, the conference is so darn great.

They don't have Joe Brady or Dave Aranda. They've always had talent, it's the coaching they've lacked. They'll lack the same this year. They'll have at least 3-4 losses.

Curious.....

How many Chiefs fans are on 49ers boards looking (desperately) for validation of their bandwagon status?

Blues fans on Bruins boards? Raptor fans on Warriors boards?

Asking for a friend.

Talent-wise, LSU’s roster next year shall be loaded, but concerns still exist. First and foremost is the offensive line, specifically the loss of junior center Lloyd Cushenberry. While LSU returns OT Austin Deculus, OG Ed Ingram, OT Dare Rosenthal, OT Cameron Wire, and the finally healthy Kardell Thomas, they really have no viable replacement for Cushenberry who was as important to their offensive success last season as anyone not named Joe Burrow. LSU still has four scholarships available, so look for one to procure a transfer for that position.

At running back, tight end, and receiver, LSU will actually be deeper and arguably better next season. Yes, even without Moss and Edwards-Helaire. Arik Gilbert is an immediate impact player and future star at tight end. John Emery had laser surgery and is no longer clinically blind at running back. How he got this far is amazing in and of itself. But, he still must prove himself superior to Chris Curry and Tyrion Davis-Price. Look for Emery to emerge as “the guy” before the middle of the season.

Myles Brennan has a stronger arm and quicker release than Joe Burrow, but let’s not kid anyone; He’s not last season’s Joe Burrow. However, Brennan will be the best quarterback not named Joe Burrow that LSU has had since Jamarcus Russell. And, he has tons of talent all around him, including a huge offensive line. Center is the question mark.

Defensively, LSU will be stout along the defensive line, but their strength will be the defensive backfield. They are loaded at CB and safety. Senior Todd Harris returns from missing the entire season, but he will likely not crack the starting lineup. LSU will be looking for transfer depth at linebacker, but LSU was light at the position last season, as Divinity was suspended for more than half the year, and didn’t really play much in the Championship game. Look for LSU to try to find a transfer at DE, as they move to a 4-3 base. Not that they shall be in that base very often.

Pelini was a solid hire, as Aranda’s defense took a slight step backward each year, and Pelini is much more of a teacher than Aranda, who struggled at times at scheme application and to adjust quickly in game. Brady was important to facilitating and fine-tuning the changes to LSU’s offense, but he was not the most integral piece. Those changes began before he was acquired. The route trees and off-season receiver work with the QB are there to stay. Something Joe Burrow was unable to participate in his first season at LSU, due to his late transfer.

Unless they change the rules and give Burrow a 5th season LSU will not be back to the playoffs next year or for the foreseeable future......he was the one and only reason they got there this year.....Go Tigers!!!!

More on Caleb Williams:

“Quarterback target Caleb Williams made the move from No. 17 overall to the No. 6 overall prospect in the country while ranking as the No. 1 overall quarterback — dual-threat or pro-style — in the nation. LSU, Oklahoma and plenty of others are making him a priority.”

Williams recently tweeted a picture in LSU uniform!

I expect LSU to lose at least 2 games this year, and they can forget playing in the SECCG or the CFP. Their 15 minutes of fame is gone.

Beautiful. LSU has a harder road than Clemson (most high school teams have tougher schedules) but it won’t matter. Clemson will lose the first actual game they play (in the CFP after their 12 week bye) and be one step closer to getting the PAC12 treatment.

Brennan gets us at least top 8. Might need some luck to get in the CFP, but it’s certainly doable.
