Just talked with a friend who is from Belgium

And she said they are literally destroying walls at the High school she teaches at, in order to increase the size of classrooms so that the strict social distancing measures the Belgian government has decreed can be maintained when they return to school May 15.
That seems like a pretty extreme permanent solution to what is (hopefully) a temporary issue.

I am a public school teacher in Georgia. There is no way we are going back to school "normal" in the fall. You can expect schools to have half of the population in the building at one time. We will be eating lunch in the classrooms. Teachers may be rotating rooms instead of the students. The teachers in SC have already started putting together a plan. My district has already thrown out the idea of four days instead of five, which would accommodate split scheduling. We may be teaching part of the day in the building and part online This is going to be a mess but, we will teach our kids and get through it.

When I was in HS we had a morning shedule with 50% of students and the other 50% went in afternoons. Yes it started early and stayed late but it did work.

Does that mean the teachers stay twice as long as they do today?

The parents to pay for child care then. It is completely to turn working parents into teachers. I get this current state we are in but if you want to see a mass uprising go ahead and tell parents they have to teach their kids half of every week

Just put the teacher in the corner by the door as to keep distance. The kids have been ok. Have the teacher come last and leave 1st.

And then there's the Swedes.
Too soon to tell how effective the "Swedish model" is--no, not the kind that pays drone-operators to photograph her by the pool.
The Swedes have begun implementing some of the lockdowns other countries have--universities, for instance--but they never closed the schools, the primary germ and parasite point of exchange in almost any culture.
Not closing the schools there probably caused some extra deaths early because many of their immigrant population live in multigenerational households. But their rate of infection/fatality doesn't seem to be as overwhelming as you would think, considering they deliberately allowed their population to become exposed.
The proof will be in how bad the second and additional waves are.
Too bad, our educators can't wait that long to make decisions. Not sure the Swedish model would work here anyway.

Haven't been able to find a drone operator with available camera time.
Perving-for-pay business is booming during a lockdown.

Our kids had "year round school" In Colorado K-6. They split everyone up in A, B, C and D sections, and three were "on" and one was"off" all the time. All kids in one family were all in the same section, so family could take vacation. I thought it was brilliant because they automatically have 1/4 less students in the school at any one time, or schools with 25% less space needed. Might help with COVID 19 as well. It is all a numbers game...

Wait. You think we’re going to be able to go back to “normal”? HaHaHaHa!
I think we’re stuck with this stupidity for the long haul.
