Happens every year. Another thing that baseball coaches have to deal with that football & basketball don't.

Unfortunately I don't see that system changing. It's much better than the basketball one and done. As it stands now, if they choose the collegiate route we have them for three years (Thank you Mr. Okey). Let's face it, if you are good enough to be drafted in the first two rounds you probably are not going the college route. I can't really blame them. Jack's the one that was wasting his time on those kids hoping that he could talk one of them into playing college ball.

GUESS HE WAS WASTING HIS TIME ON BEER ALSO. THIS IS THE DUMBEST ARGUMENT EVER. YOU GET THE BEST YOU CAN, THEN RECRUIT SOME GUYS AS GUYS YOU CAN FALL BACK ON. DONT SETTLE. KIDS LOVE CLEMSON. MORE AND MORE WILL COME NOW WITH THOSE NEW FACILITIES.

Life changing money is different for all people. Beer will be a pro for a long time, and will end up in Tiger HOF. 4 year avg to get to MLB, highest alcoholism rate than any other profession and constant competition from international players driven to change their family tree, not just dream about playing. MiLB is a long, dirty haul and you better stay healthy or youre done.

YES HE WAS AND AFTER HE MADE THE MAJORS HE SAID HE WISHED HE HAD GONE TO CLEMSON . JUST SAYIN YOU CANT GIVE UP ON RECRUITING THE BEST. SOME KIDS WILL TELL YOU IF THEY GET DRAFTED HIGH THEY WILL SIGN. WE DROP THEM. SOME SAY THEY WANT TO COME AND THEN THE MONEY IS TO GREAT TO OVERCOME. AND SOME KIDS JUST BLOW UP THEIR SENIOR YEAR AND GET DRAFTED WAY HIGHER THAN ANYONE THOUGHT THEY WOULD WHEN WE WERE RECRUITING THEM. NEVER SETTLE. ALL THAT BREEDS IS A LOSING PROGRAM.

Why are you yelling?

And I think Greinke made the right decision. I'd play professional ball for a 2.5 million dollar signing bonus. He's also making 31 million in salary this year. I'd say it worked out pretty well for him.
