May 10, 2012, 3:09 PM

games, so he chose USUC over those other SEC teams.

That's all I need to know about him

May 10, 2012, 3:53 PM

that ignorance will fit right in with the coots. Hopefully someone close to him will tell him that he is making a HUGE mistake and to save himself and his future

It didnt appear that he had a lot of offers from the big boys in the sec

You are right that he did not have a lot of offers from the "big boys in the SEC". However, Phil reported that among his many offers, he did have offers from 2 high profile SEC programs: Auburn and Tennessee. It's hard to complain about beating out Auburn and Tennessee for a prospect. Also, ESPN (the recruiting service that clemson fans and Swinney himself used as THE reference the past 2 years),rates him as a 4 star and the number 24 Outside Linebacker in the nation. So, he is a quality pickup.

If he's 100% commited

May 10, 2012, 3:22 PM

why is he taking visits to other schools? What is there to gain (legally) from that?

I know, - you just asked what is their to gain.

I simply said it's not unusual.

To specifically answer you, I'd offer the follow possibilities

1) It's fun visiting big time college football places.

2) Go on visits with teammates/friends

3) Meet personally with coaches that you have become friends with over time

4) see other places, facilities, etc

5) may have family in the area and it's a reason to get by other places

6) see if you made the right decision - compare other places, etc
