It was shameful, the entire left side was empty

After the team ran down the hill it filled up, not sure if most people were late and they had it roped off or what was going on

The student entrance to the lower bowl is past the right side of the hill, so that is where most enter before the game starts, simply because it sucks fighting through the crowd to the other side for no real reason. After the teams runs down and they take down the ropes everyone spreads out. I am a senior at Clemson now and don't remember the hill being ever being empty my freshman year (that's where I got my ticket for every game). I really hate the online ticketing system, i much preferred going to the stadium to get tickets my freshman year. It made sure that the people who cared were the ones that got tickets, and the ones that cared the most got the best tickets. And you were happy just to get a ticket because you never knew if they would all be gone or not (or if upper deck seats would be the only ones left).
