Connecting Laptop to TV via VGA

Just got a new laptop (HP Pavilion g6). I was able to connect my old laptop directly to my TV via a VGA cable and it played without issue. With the new laptop, it goes black every 10 sec. or so on both the TV and the laptop when connected. It does not seem to matter what browser I'm using for ESPN3 or what presentation settings I'm using.

just a major SWAG here, but you might try this:

go to Youtube
play any video
right click the video, and select 'settings'
choose the 'display' tab
see what 'Enable hardware acceleration' has
if checked, uncheck it. if unchecked, try checking the box.

Like I said - just something to try.

Since you just bought a new laptop, I won't suggest buying a laptop with an HDMI connector, which makes everything easy. Next time - huh?

Go get an HDMI cable and solve all your problems.
