Honestly, after playing LSU, FSU and SC...

And seeing FSU again tonight.
SC had the best individual defensive player we saw this year in Clowney.
But
LSU's defense as a whole is light years ahead of either. Speed, power, technique. They had the total package and were all business. Probably the best defense we have played in a long time.

FSU depth was very good, and they played physical at the corners. But LB and safety?
LSU had zero weaknesses IMO. We just executed at an extremely high level and gassed them in the 4th.

FSU and USC had good offenses

I agree that LSU's defense was the best of the 3. The speed of that group was amazing - looked like an NFL defense almost. But their offense ended up putting too much pressure on the D. USC and FSU were able to give their respective defenses as break by controlling the ball.

Agreed, Clowney is a great player, but he is just 1 guy. LSU has a bunch of them. They are much, much better than scar.

Clowney, I believe was the best individual player that we saw on defense too. He is just waayyy ahead of his time. This kid is NFL ready right meow.
LSU had the quickest defense I have honestly seen in years. Just so #### fast man! Their techniques and discipline was a bit off than I expected, but Geezus they are fast! Still think a simple screen would have broken their back, but that hook n ladder was just as good.
As I watch the FSU game as well, I too wonder how we lost to them. 14 point lead in the 3rd quater is just, mehhhh

Some merit; FSU and SC had more Offense and that was the difference.

Secondary. They played on the edge of being considered dirty the whole game. I was impressed by their combined speed and power.
That being said, Clowney is the best player in America. If he were ours we would all say the same. Kid is a generational player.
I think we might be undefeated if he was on our team. Ultimately he missed a chance at the national title by choosing SC over us. I don't think either SC or FSU beat us with him at the defensive end position.

He never would have worn orange. He'd have gone to a juco and still would not have ever been admitted to Clemson. He made the only choice he could and has made the most of it, pretty much.
What I would like to know is how in the ###### do they keep him "eligible"? Something going on there.

LSU's defense is definitely the best of the 3. Their offense
Jan 2, 2013, 12:26 AM

is very bland though and Mettenberger stinks. We beat LSU because their offense couldn't keep the ball, and their defense had to defend 100 plays and like 37 min TOP.
If you put a legit QB on that team, they win the national title this year.

d.e. wise. however when you add the other d.e.(strong and/or weak side, into the equation, lsu's and fsu's de's as a group, were better than usuc's. werner (fsu)is better against the run than clowney, but as far as getting after the qb, it isn't even close.

we should have won all three games , but we went away from the run (which was working ) in both sc and fsu games . the difference in the lsu game is we adapted , that and the defense played lights out

The defense played lights out is really the reason we beat LSU. That and the fact that we have a far better QB.
If the D had played that well against the other two, we'd have beaten FSU for sure and SCar most likely.

Dude... it was Michigan, an 8-4 team (now 8-5) and you guys had trouble with them and nearly lost to them... quit acting like it was some big victory...over a team you were supposed to beat!

We weren't particularly awesome against LSU on offense, we just managed to beat them with our defense. If our D gets up for the SCAR game, you guys would have been hosed. Only held the ball a few times in the second half because of the D.

No, it wasn't. You got me on that. Between auto correct and getting their and there wrong, I hope I made your day. I don't blame you though improper English upsets me as well. I am usually on my phone and don't check for auto correct. Hey, guess what! SC beat y'all. Next year you will play them on their field. Feel better?

We'll see how that works out against an overall greatly improved Clemson team. You've got to hope that your replacements are superior to their predecessors, if you know what that word means.
