He wasn't dismissed for violating the law. The article states he was dismissed for violating team rules. Team rule #1 is likely "if you break the law make sure it's not recorded."

I doubt the dismissal was related to a broken law.

It's more likely he wasn't doing his work and progressing toward what Saban though he could be.
