Is Big 10 better than SEC?

Jun 28, 2019, 11:18 AM

Since we know what a farce the SEC myth really is....how do other conferences stack up? The BIG is generally considered a strong conference, are they any better than the SEC in reality?

Well, they administration is better at committing/covering up felonies, so I will give the edge to the B10 there.

I don't know if there is an SEC myth or not. I do know that overall the SEC was 7-3 vs. the ACC last year. There are things as you wish them to be and things as they really are. Sorry.

We had three wins so there's that.

Yeah, the ones that mattered... A&M, Coots, and Bama.

And the coots were 0-2 correct? Just curious.

You know that's not true. Clemson won 3 games against the SEC alone. Virginia beat USuC so that makes at least 4 wins by ACC Schools. That may be all but over the last 5 years their pretty even maybe even a slight ACC lead.

SEC myth born from beating over-hyped Big 10 teams!

Jun 28, 2019, 12:52 PM

Part of the SEC myth was born from playing "overrated Big 10 teams" in my opinion. Slow and cumbersome are the words that come to mind when I think Big 10 football. Ohio St. has a bunch of NC so does Michigan; but they all came during an era where they didn't have to play and beat everybody! Especially the teams in the South!
I don't give them any more credit than I would Army football for being a powerhouse! You didn't prove it on the football field. And a bunch of those you didn't even have to play a top team in a bowl game.

Big 10 proponents say, "play us in the cold"! So, they openly know they can't compete, unless the team from the south that has been acclimated to 70's and up is freezing their back-sides off. Sad conference!

I blame them mostly for the whole SEC myth!

The ACC gets it's players literally from the same states/schools in those states as does the SEC. Some even get the best players from more northern states(Clemson, Alabama, Florida St, etc.).

The Big 10 is the conference SEC homers are thinking about when they talk all that propaganda. Or at least, that's who they should be thinking about! 23-23 last 46 meetings suggest ACC isn't so far off the SEC as a conference at all.

I just checked (like years ago) and Michigan only has two -really 1.5- since the poll era. 1948 - which could be split with Clemson since we were undefeated (but ranked 11th) and 0.5 from the 1997 split with Nebraska that was beating folks by 40-50 points... including the Peyton Manning UT team 42-17. The press game UMuch their trophy and the coaches gave Nebraska the hardware.

Meanwhile Clemson has three uncontested Natties... just sayin'

Currently? No.

After the recent Wisconsin and Penn State backslides:

Bama > OSU
Georgia > Michigan
LSU > Penn State
Florida > Mich State
A&M > Wisconsin
etc.

And the bottom of the B1G with Rutgers and Illinois is total trash. That SEC pretty much never has any teams that are that bad.

Incorrect, they often do. Just my favorite example:

SEC looks top to bottom best to me if I were placing bets. Top line is all that really matters, so who cares? There are also large step-downs in each conference as you progress down the list. ACC is easy to see Clemson is far ahead of Miami/Syracuse, then another step down to Nancy/Pitt/UVa. In the SEC Bama and UGA at the top then a step down to LSU/A&M, then another drop to Florida/Auburn, etc. etc.

ACC B1G Big 12 PAC-12 SEC
Clemson OSU Oklahoma Washington Alabama
Miami Michigan Texas Washington St Georgia
Syracuse Penn State West Virginia Oregon LSU
NC State Michigan State Iowa State Stanford Texas A&M
Pitt Wisconsin Baylor Utah Florida
Virginia Northwestern TCU Arizona State Auburn
FSU Iowa Oklahoma State Cal Kentucky
BC Purdue Texas Tech USC Mississippi State
Va Tech Nebraska Kansas State Arizona Missouri
Ga Tech Maryland Kansas Colorado Tennessee
Duke Minnesota UCLA Ole Miss
Wake Forest Indiana Oregon State Sakerlina
UNC Illinois Vanderbilt
Louisville Rutgers Arkansas
