Yeah, but Arky would likely destroy Nancy State and Arky is 2-7 and Nancy is 4-4. Neither are bowling but if Nancy State was over in the SEC west, they would be Ol' Misses' homegcoming game.

Arky couldn't destroy Portland St, or San Jose St.

your argument is therefore invalid.

I wish they could do an ACC/SEC football challenge as the first game of each year

Much like the ACC/Big 10 basketball challenge.
Clemson vs. Bama #2 ACC vs. #2 SEC #3 ACC vs. #3 SEC Right on down the line
Would make for a highly entertaining opening week and would answer a lot of questions.

That would have been... (going pre-bowl standings)
Clemson over Bama
Cuse vs Georgia Pitt vs LSU NC State vs Florida GT vs Kentucky Miami VS A&M Virginia vs Miss State BC vs South Carolina Wake vs Mizzou Va Tech vs Auburn FSU vs Vandy Duke vs Ol Miss (interesting one) UNC vs Tennessee Louisville vs Arky
Acc would go 7-7. Basically the 2nd-6th would be obliterated but our bottom would beat their bottom: W L L L L L W W W L W W W

I think Auburn would beat Va. Tech pretty easily. Other than that, it looks about right.
But this type of annual arrangement would slow a lot of the ya-yaaing down

Hey, have to pick an upset(s) somewhere. I don't think FSU would beat Vandy IF they played this weekend, and Auburn has a big of an odd streak losing to at least one wounded duck program (UT last year, UGA four years ago).

Clemson-Bama is 50/50 assuming both teams are all full strength. We've split with them the last 4 years and both teams are at a pretty similar level again this year.
South Carolina is a lot better than BC.. BC is awful.
Auburn beats VT rather easily.
UNC-Tenn is 50/50.
Wake-Missouri is also 50/50. 100% Wake win if it's at Wake and 100% Missouri win if its in Columbia. haha
UVA-Miss St is probably also around a coin flip. I know Miss St has been bad, but UVA has been disappointing too.
Duke-Ole Miss is 50/50
Kentucky pretty easily over GT
Louisville beats Arkansas rather easily.
On the other hand.. i would give Miami and OK chance of beating A&M. I have not been impressed by A&M so far this year.

Yeah, it is a great -and hyper accurate- title, not a great article. A little weak as I would have liked to see them actually do the statistics for about 20-30 years. I think that pattern would have held true.
It appears that you have the dominant Natty-level team and the "challenger programs" are in the woods. You rarely have that non-threatening "second tier" doing well like Clemson from 2012-2014 or UL/FSU in 2015-2016. It is a lot more feast or famine - which results in coastal cannibalism.

Bad article. Short on significant facts and big on perception.
Who has REALLY challenged Bama in the SEC?
Who has REALLY challenged OSU in the Big 10?
Who has REALLY challenged OU in the Big 12?
The PAC-12 get's crushed OOC routinely.

So true!
In fact, take Nick Saban and Urban Meyer away and what has the SEC done? They use to get that butt handed to them by current ACC team Miami is what they did. Or Florida State. Florida had some good years with Spurrier - but I think he only won one there right?
They ought to stop. Every conference will have it's bottom feeders and mid-tier teams! A few posters will come on TNET and post the ACC's record versus p5 teams but won't include bowl season. Why? Because, the other layer to the stat is - look at the match up!
For example FSU, Clemson, Louisville and Nancy State and VT are all good - we play teams like Northwestern, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kansas, etc. Now it looks like the ACC is dominant over these other conferences! No; the numbers are skewed b/c you aren't playing the equivilant "tier" team in the other league. I know, I know - there aren't any you would say other than Clemson that are on the same tier as some powers in the SEC, Big 12, etc. Fine: judge it when two middle of the road teams play! Who wins more often then?

so far this season.
Penn St 17 Pit 10 UF 24 Miami 20 ND 21 VT 20
And UNC beat USuC.
They've had some bad bad losses, but so has the SEC.

Pitt lost to Miami who lost to Virginia Tech who lost to Duke 45-10. And Duke lost to Pitt closing the Circle.
Dang you Coastal Circles!

Miami lost to Gt and yet could have beaten Florida. I see our middle of the road teams competing with the upper tear teams (not named Bama) of the SEC.

That FL v. Miami should not be used as a positive data point for either team.
FL was simply less inept.
I have never seen a game that bad, where a trailing team needed to drive 70(?) yards for the winning TD but only netted 12 yards from scrimmage while somehow moving the LoS over 50 yards on defensive penalties PLUS the yardage lost on sacks and other negative plays.
If the Miami QB could have done anything right that last drive, Miami wins.

The article was way to long and boring. It was also full of crap! Let me see if I get this right, the only way the ACC can be any good is if Clemson loses some games to others in the ACC. ( but if we beat a team by one point it’s a lousy win worse than a loss) I just don’t get it and don’t buy the premise.. Over the same time span Clemson has dominated all of College FootBall not just the ACC.
